life altering!

A must read! The symbolism in this book is so profound. It is also fast paced, beautifully written and heals your inner child. it made me cry, shattered me, pieced me back together and broke me again. I'm waiting for the next book!

A Dark, Poetic Romantasy Full of Emotion and Depth

This book truly took me by surprise – in the best possible way. From the very first pages, it became clear: The Knight and the Moth is not your average romantasy. It’s a hauntingly beautiful, atmospheric tale that walks the delicate line between faith, magic, and longing. Rachel Gillig’s writing is rich and lyrical – not the easiest read if you’re not a native English speaker, but absolutely worth it. I read this book more slowly than I usually do with English novels, simply because I wanted to reread so many sentences – because they were so beautifully written. The story of Sybil, a young prophetess, and Rodrick, the heretical knight, is not just a mysterious and gripping journey – it’s also a deeply human story about trust, doubt, and the quiet strength of love. The world Gillig creates is dark and fairytale-like. This book made me laugh and cry – so much crying at one part. The characters are vibrant, layered, and refreshingly different from the usual tropes. I especially loved the slow, tender connection between Sybil and Rodrick – subtle yet powerful. The Knight and the Moth is, for me, a true standout in the romantasy genre – poetic, emotional, and deeply resonant. If you enjoy moody settings, slow-burn romance, and characters with real depth, this book is an absolute must-read. I can only recommend it – and honestly, I’m not ready to leave this world behind.

New comfort read unlocked

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

Rachel Gillig blew me away with her atmospheric and unique writing style. Her story pulls you in immediately and you can't help but fall in love with all the characters (especially Bartholomew). But what finalized my hyperfixation with this book is the portrayal of our main character. I felt so much for and with her - which made seeing Sybil find her own group of people and her love to Rory such a heartwarming experience. The ladyknight and found family trope just never misses. I'm not being dramatic when I say that every fantasy lover MUST read this book! The wait for Rachel Gillig's next piece of art will be torture.

And the award for the best side character goes tooooo... BARTHOLOMEW!

Bewertet: Buch (Gebundene Ausgabe)

If you like gothic atmosphere, a dark, ominous vibe, a strong, kind of unconventional heroine then look no further! Lately I noticed the new hype of medieval fantasy with a strong FMC, who wields a sword, is badass and on a revenge mission and "The Knight and the Moth" fits this description perfectly! So if this sounds intriguing to you, you should definitely read this book. But be aware, this is only the first installment in the duology and it's so good, you want the second book immediately! But trust me, this is the perfect fall read, so let's embrace the sweet emotional torture that comes with waiting for book two.
