Meine letzte Rezension Darkly von Marisha Pessl

Ein Jugend-Mystery, das Herzen höher schlagen lässt - und das nicht nur durch seine Spannungselemente! Ein originelles Konzept lockt den Leser, eine schaurige Atmosphäre, ein actiongeladener Plot und tolle Charakterdynamiken überzeugen auf ganzer Linie. Der Schreibstil ist flüssig, der Plot hat gutes Pacing und so manchen Twist, den man nicht kommen sieht. Vor allem die Dynamik und Chemie zwischen den einzelnen Figuren verleihen dem Roman das gewisse Etwas, gibt es auch so manches Knistern. Ich würde "Darkly" jedem empfehlen, vor allem wenn Mysteries von AutorInnen wie Holly Jackson oder Maureen Johnson zu den Favoriten zählen und/oder man Gaming-Elemente jeglicher Art toll findet.

This is How You Lose the Time War

This book simply blew my mind. the world was so confusing yet cool and abstract - a world full of chaos and war. But this brutal reality is not the main focal point. Instead I felt bewitched by the hauntingly beautiful letters between two spies, who fight for their nations and also against themselves and their inner conflicts and the feelings of loneliness and being broken. This novel was simply stunning.

The River Has Roots

This fantasy novella is short but it definitely packs a punch! "The River has Roots" is a beautifully told story, interwoven with folklore and legends, that shines in this mystical setting. The concept is original, the world feels eerie yet beautiful. I was very impressed by the story, the writing and the message. I highly recommend!

Piranesi

I adore this book. The writing style, the descriptions, the mysterious atmosphere, the vibe in general. It was dark yet beautiful and the social commentary and critique were great. To be in Piranesi's mind was haunting and scary and still so, so beautiful. I'm in awe!

Sprachlich avanciert geleitet uns die Autorin durch die Geschichte - spannend und faszinierend ab Seite eins. Vor allem LiebhaberInnen der Stücke Shakespeares kommen hier auf ihre Kosten. Ein absolut gelungenes Mystery, welches durch Sprache und Atmosphäre besticht und auch anspruchsvolle LeserInnen zufriedenstellt. Meisterhaft und unterhaltsam.

And Every Morning the Way Home Gets Longer and Longer

This novella was truly outstanding. I laughed and smiled a lot while reading this piece of literature... and I cried. I was thinking back to my own grandparents and parents, reliving many dear memories. The writing style was beautiful and intimite, the characters felt despite the length of the story fully flashed out and I really liked them. This book made me feel! It was an amazing read and the perfect length for the story that has been told. I would highly recommend this book to every single one out there. I am not exaggerating: Yes, it was THAT good!
