Meine letzte Rezension Hamnet von Maggie OFarrell
I have rarely felt heartbreak the way I felt after finishing this masterpiece. Maggie O'Farrell manages to create a deep attachment to the characters through her poetic style of writing. I am a huge Shakespeare fan and was always intrigued by his (in some ways still very much unknown) historic background. Because of that I could barely put the book down and kept thinking about the tragedy waiting for me at the end of this story. So I was almost relieved when I reached the conclusion and could make peace with this ending. Still, I would highly recommend this if you are in for an emotional journey with a healthy dose of poetic prose.

    The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue

    This book is and will always be one of my favorite books of all time. Not only is it beautifully written, it also evokes feelings while reading it like no other. Addie is such a tragic character, that is forced into a deal to save her freedom. The horrible result: everyone keeps forgetting her as soon as she leaves their sight. Over centuries Addie is forced to live in solitude, until one day, when suddendly she is remembered. A heartbreaking but still very beautiful read, that makes you think about your own impact in another's life.

    Six of Crows

    No one else manages to create deep characters and such an immersive world like Leigh Bardugo. Apart from the well structured main plot (a thrilling heist), the reader ist introduced to the dangerous underground of Ketterdam and its intriguing gang politics. Because the magic of the Grisha isn't a vital asset to excell in their endeavour, the Crows stand apart from the main cast of other books - which is a refreshing thing to read, as well as the realistic silliness of teenagers in such a position. The perfect read for everyone who wants to dive into interesting storytelling and nuanced characters.

    The Knight and the Moth

    Rachel Gillig blew me away with her atmospheric and unique writing style. Her story pulls you in immediately and you can't help but fall in love with all the characters (especially Bartholomew). But what finalized my hyperfixation with this book is the portrayal of our main character. I felt so much for and with her - which made seeing Sybil find her own group of people and her love to Rory such a heartwarming experience. The ladyknight and found family trope just never misses. I'm not being dramatic when I say that every fantasy lover MUST read this book! The wait for Rachel Gillig's next piece of art will be torture.

    When the Moon Hatched

    A very intense story full of dragons, luscious worldbuilding, character arcs and beautiful prose. This book explores a deep and tragic past of the protagonist without giving away too much at once. Through this, the tension and intrigue keeps you reading at full speed and longing for the sequel. All in all a perfect read for fans of the dragon-fantasy genre and everyone who loves complex characters.

    What happens when your rival, who is supposed to be your friend and ally in the manipulative world of publishing and authorship, dies right in front of you? Yes, you steal her manuscript, add your touch and publish it in your name, of course! R. F. Kuang creates a main character, for whom you feel an immense amount of resentment and hate, but yet you can't help rooting for her to get away with her crime. This frustrating feeling is soothed by Kuang's beautifully poetic prose, that delivers some pretty, yet raw thoughts about the publishing industry and writing. A huge recommendation for everyone who loves flawed characters.

    Daughter of No Worlds

    I went in with pretty high expectations after seeing this book all over social media and was certainly not disappointed! The magic system is very unique, the characters witty and the romance enchanting. The worldbuilding offers a wide world full of politics and dangers, but could use a bit more of depth. All of this creates a wonderful reading experience and leaves you wanting for more. Can't wait for the sequel!

    One of the best books I've ever read! This isn't just part of the fantasy genre but delves way deeper into history and colonialism. R. F. Kuang manages to create a unique reading experience, full of suspense and anger for the oppressed ethnicities shown in the character cast. A must read for dark academia lovers and everyone who likes to reflect on every sentence they encounter.
