Coraline

I always wanted to watch Coraline but I just couldn't find it on any streaming platforms... so I got this book and it was totally worth it. The story was amazing, thrilling and (of course) spooky through and through.

Als Coraline mit ihren Eltern in ein altes Haus zieht, fällt ihr eines Tages eine zu tapezierte und vermutlich alte Tür im Kunstraum auf. Nachdem Ihre Mutter diese geöffnet hatte, kommt zu Coralines Enttäuschung nur eine Mauer zum Vorschein, da das Haus in Wohnungen unterteilt wurde. Eines langweilen Tages, wo Coralines Eltern unterwegs waren, schaute sie nochmals nach der Tür. Dieses Mal war dort aber keine Mauer, hinter der Tür befand sich nun ein dunkler, muffig riechender Gang. Coraline beschloss sich trotz ihres unguten Gefühls in den Gang zu wagen. Am Ende befand sich ein fast identischer Kunstraum wie bei ihr Zuhause, nur schien hier alles heiterer, lustiger und schöner zu sein als in der echten Welt. In diesem Zuhause hatte sie ihre "anderen" Eltern, die immer für sie da sind und viel Zeit mit ihr verbringen. Alles schien perfekt, nur der schein trügte. Sie wollen Coraline für immer bei sich haben, nur was Coraline dafür tun müsste, ist schrecklich und brutal. Kann sie ihren "anderen" Eltern entfliehen oder muss sie für immer in der anderen Welt bleiben? - Gruselig schön! Es läuft mir noch immer kalt den Rücken runter, sollte man definitiv gelesen haben!

I can't even put in words about how much I'm in love with this book. It's a book for kids but in my opinion the ending is a little too creepy. I watched the movie right after I finished the book and I'm disappointed, the book is soo much better and all the characters, I imagined them soo different and why did they add a friend for coraline? I'd read the book every single day. I really can't explain it nor do I know why but the book made me feel a certain type of way and I'm just so in love with it, probs for Gaiman

I watched the movie first and was hoping for the book to be good … What can I say? I liked it even more! It is such a beautiful “Alice in wonderland”-like tale that adds a darker and thus deeper touch to the idea of “girl escaping into a world behind a portal” theme. It is a good read full of wisdom that will be enjoyed by children as well as adults. (I was also happy to find an interesting comment by the author at the end of the book, telling us more about the idea and working process behind “Coraline”.)

Coraline is a young girl who feels very bored in her family‘s new flat and goes exploring. She stumbles across a door that leads her to another flat that looks exactly like her own. Only it’s different. The „other“ parents are already waiting on the other side…
