I watched the movie first and was hoping for the book to be good … What can I say? I liked it even more! It is such a beautiful “Alice in wonderland”-like tale that adds a darker and thus deeper touch to the idea of “girl escaping into a world behind a portal” theme. It is a good read full of wisdom that will be enjoyed by children as well as adults. (I was also happy to find an interesting comment by the author at the end of the book, telling us more about the idea and working process behind “Coraline”.)

Spooky and dark

An interesting story, Coraline is a special and very lovely character. The theme is spooky and really dark, in particular for a childrens book. The illustrations from Riddel are a nice add-on and fitting well. It's a enjoyable book, but I like the movie version a little bit more.
