Come è capitato a me, tanti anni fa.

How many loves do you get in a lifetime?

... How many people do you get to call yours? There are all sorts of loves in this world, not all of them, but most of them are beautiful."
"Magnolia Parks" is a contemporary novel about toxic relationships within London's High Society, a story about friendship, addiction, love (it is what it is) and all of their nitty gritty scandals - champagne problems if you will... The toxic relationship in focus however is about Magnolia and BJ, we get both of their POV's in first person and some mixed media style text messages sprinkled throughout the book.
To be in their head was fascinating, because the way they were thinking was very new to me. I kept reminding myself that this book was fiction (a work of art nonetheless) - not only because it made me feel all of their emotions, but if you won't suspend your disbelief, this story will frustrate, probably even anger you. But the way it is written will entrance you as well - and if you let it, it may leave an imprint on your soul... I know this sounds very dramatic, but you get the gist of it and it fits the book perfectly.
This was such original writing, at times fun, at times preposterous and stuck-up (don't forget we are following super rich, silver spoon "teens" in their twenties) and then we get the sections when BJ and Magnolia will think about each other and the writing will transform completely, because they think in metaphors, in poetic love-letter-descriptions in an all consuming kind of way.
"And the world falls to black. It's just me and him in all the universe. The stars have exploded, the sun's burnt out." (Most of the book is written in this way and I am here for it!)
So if you like character development (and there is more room than enough to grow because we don't start at the bottom, we are starting in the basement) found family, drama and shiny yet broken things, then you might want to give this novel a go, give it a chance to surprise you and to lure you into its magnetic field, never able to escape its breathtaking storytelling completely. It was original, heartfelt, ravishing, toxic and I hung on every word that the author had put together, carefully threaded like pearls on a string, with so much care and love, like a drowning person in need of land and desperately gasping for air with every wave that threatens to pull me under its ferocious spell and I will gladly take my downfall.
In other words: I can't wait to continue this series!

“Painful things can still be beautiful things, in case you didn’t know.”

How is the weather Parks?
I'm obsessed and in love with this book. They are the IT Girl and IT Boy from London. The whole of England is obsessed with them and if they are coming back together.
