Anathema

Keri Lake manages to create a simultaneously enchanting and creepy atmosphere. I was genuinely scared while reading this in the dark because of the wretched monsters and cruel fates that were described on the page. This still didn't keep me from devouring this book. It was so much fun being inside Maevyth's head and experiencing all the gruesome events through her eyes. She was the right mix of curious and hilarious, which helped in understanding her intentions and perceptions. The result is a very relatable heroine, who has to fend for herself in her deadly surroundings. Her relationship with Zevander was intense, thrilling, spicy and so wholesome. I am really invested with this story and can't wait to see where it all leads in the next book!
