    Buch (Gebundene Ausgabe)

    Interesting setting, predictable plot

As an academic myself it was fun reading this book, the author's commentary on academia was spot on, and most times very funny. But this a romance without much to it, predictable, cheesy, something to enjoy quickly, not much substance really.

When a Fake Relationship between Scientists became a real Relationship ⚗️

I finished the book yesterday, and my friends were right. Once again, Ali Hazelwood didn’t disappoint me with her book. It had been sitting on my TBR pile for a long time, and since the movie just came out recently, I really wanted to read the book. Two of my friends had also raved about it, which made me even more eager to finally read it. The story has it all: action, intense emotions, but also a couple of parts that really made me angry. I took Adam to my heart right away, even though he’s so reserved and grumpy. That was part of his charm. Olive is a bit shy when it comes to giving a presentation in front of a large crowd. I can totally relate to that. You might think that Adam and Olive aren’t a good match because of their personalities—since they’re so different—but that’s not true at all. They complement each other perfectly, and I was so happy that the two of them found each other.

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

    Really lovely

My thoughts: At first, I had a few reservations about the narrative style, as I usually only read books written in the first-person, but these reservations turned out not to be a problem at all. I was immediately drawn into the story, and the structure was nevertheless such that it could just as easily have been told from a first-person perspective. I really liked Olive, and the fact that she kept finding herself in absolutely hilarious situations made her all the more endearing. I have to say, honestly, that I didn’t necessarily find Adam grumpy. Sure, he’s quite reserved and sometimes a bit suspicious, but he has his reasons for that, which were actually quite plausible. I actually preferred the fact that I didn’t perceive him as the classic ‘grumpy’ type, as I’m not exactly a fan of the ‘grumpy x sunshine’ trope. So, for me, it was done quite well. I thought his development over the course of the story was really good. Thanks to Olive, he’s become much more open, and it’s clear that the two of them complement each other well. I also really liked the dynamic between them, and most of the scenes where they argued were quite amusing too. I definitely grew fond of all the side characters too; I was particularly taken with Dr Holden and Malcolm. Tom, on the other hand, I really hated and actually found him very suspicious right from the start. I just don't like him. Even though there were times when nothing much happened for a while – particularly regarding the development of the relationship between Olive and Adam – I never found the story boring. I genuinely always looked forward to reading on. When the incident happened towards the end, I was immediately very keen to see how things would unfold and definitely felt a bit on edge. So the book really did stir up some emotions in me. There were a few situations where I would have liked to read Adam’s perspective, which is why I’m a bit disappointed with the scene chosen for the bonus chapter. But that’s really just a minor point. I’m giving the book 5/5 stars. I thought the love story was lovely, and ‘fake dating’ is a trope I really enjoy reading anyway. There were plenty of funny moments, and there was no shortage of suspense either. Das Buch konnte also einige Emotionen in mir wecken.

Oh Adam, the man you are!❤️

I was a bit hesitant at first because of the huge hype and the movie adaptation but I thought let's just give it a try and I was so surprised by it. I didn't imagine that I could love it so much but I did and i can't stop thinking about Adam and Olive. I've read a few other books from Ali Hazelwood and I liked them but didn't think that they were great but this one had me in a chokehold and I just had to keep on reading. Olive was such a lovable character and she just deserves the world (and Adam would definetly would make that possible) and her whole friendship with Anh was so so cute because of the way they completely support each other. And then there's Adam. He's just the best Fake Boyfriend ever and the way he thinks about Olive and would do anything for her. It just melts my heart. I totally loved the academic setting and their little interactions throughout the book and i wished that their story could go on forever. I would literaly read a whole series just with Adam and Olive. If you would ask me what is better, the book or the movie, my answer is crystal clear: definetly the book! It's absolutly going to be an all time favourite for me. ✨

OMGGGGGGG! I want Dr. Carlsen to be my advisor!!

I waited for my review after I watched the movie and I need to tell you, you need to read the book too. Just trust me (I can’t say much because: Spoilers). Or just read the books first if you have the chance. I fell really hard not only for Adam, that too (oops), but also the academic setting really made me hungry for more books with that kind of setting. I am not really a fake-dating fan but this book is so well-written, it made it into my top 10 favorite books. I loved the chemistry, the funny conversations, the friendships, the academic talk and life, the grumpy x sunshine vibes and authentic characters with deep feelings. Men written by Ali Hazelwood - omg- the yearning!!!!!!!! The yearning is sooooooo good, so respectful and kind - it was killing me (in a good way). I enjoyed every minute I spent with Olive and Adam, there wasn’t one second when this book didn’t entertain! It’s worth the hype for sure (if you ask me). P.S. if you got the version with the Film Cover there is a new foreword by Lili Reinhart which I enjoyed so much and not one but 2 bonus chapters from Adams POV - which kept me screaming/ crying and giggling - it was perfect. So if you have a desicion to make I would take the Version with the film Cover or both :)

A Rom-Com that started as Star Wars Fan-Fic? Count me in!

The Love Hypothesis was my first romance in a long time, and I’m so glad I picked this one up. I really like Ali Hazelwood’s writing style, so I immediately dove into her other works. (She knows how to write a yearning man) Olive is a great character who you cannot not root for, and the story had me smiling like an idiot more than once. It might not be the most groundbreaking story, but it was exactly what I needed.

    Buch (Gebundene Ausgabe)

Projekt Romance Novels: The Love Hypothesis
