The Priory of the Orange Tree

The Priory of the Orange tree tells the story of a world about to be plunged into war. Centuries after a terrible war with dragons, the beasts' threat looms again. Each kingdom of the world has a different understanding of history, and their religious differences are the root of tensions between them. As the draconic powers stir again, however, their past may be the only answer to defeat the dragons. The story moves between a group of characters in different kingdoms as they go through turmoils and trials in their lives. Some know each other, and others do not, yet their actions are interwoven. The author manages to spin a fantastic web out of the different pieces of information that each character comes across. Each narrator has their own goals and dreams, and in pursuing their future, they unknowingly draw closer and closer to each other and to their true history. While this book can seem daunting, the flow of the story very easily conveys a vast amount of historical and cultural information about the different rulerships. Jumping between the characters is refreshing and maintains suspense throughout the entire book. Overall, this is an amazingly epic story that I could not put down once I got past the initial exposition. All of the characters are tangible with flaws and developments and the storytelling is enthralling.

One of the best high fantasy novels I read last year. We have dragons, epic fights and a beautiful impossible love story. Even though this book has 800 pages if you get in you fly through the pages. And who couldn´t get enough of the world, a new release comes 2023

Samantha Shanon's brilliant book, which was inspired by the Legend of St. George and the Dragon, leads us into a world full magic, betrayal and Dragons. Unique Characters with flaws but the will to fight for what is right makes this an amazing book for everyone who enjoys Fantasy books. Also the fact that it has mostly female main characters and queer representation makes it one of the best books I've read in the last few years.

An absolute must-read for High-Fantasy-Fans! This well-written book does not only include diverse characters and dragons, but also outstanding worldbuilding. The switch between thrilling adventures and intrigues at court makes an unforgettable story. I love it!
