Not gonna lie, I only got it because a spice and romance-addicted tiktok girlie said that she didn't like it. I don't like what she usually read so I thought maybe I'd try it, tho usually I don't like to follow tiktok trends too much. And I don't regret it one bit! It's the perfect beginner fantasy book- with Kaz being one of my fav male book characters in existence- not because I'm attracted to him but because he actually has some depth.

"No mourners. No funerals.” I'm continually impressed by how authors craft such intricate fantasy worlds. In this story, Kaz Brekker assembles a team to undertake the seemingly impossible task of rescuing a scientist from a high-security prison. Each of the six main characters is uniquely developed, with rich backstories that add depth to the narrative. 100/10 It’s my new favourite book and to be honest it sat in my bookshelf for a few months before I went on to read it which I don’t understand now but as soon as I started to read I couldn’t really stop. I liked how every character was introduced and each of the crows has such a cool and lovable character on their own and they are all so different but match perfectly. And the plot was amazing too. I was always thinking „what are they gonna do now, there’s no way out“ but Leigh Bardugo surprised me and proved me wrong. It is absolutely worth reading and I 100%recommend it. Plus I liked that it was written in different povs so that you can be in everyone’s head and understand what they’re thinking which was necessary to understand their emotions. I. Love. It. Leigh Bardugo just knows how to write characters and those "oh, I should've seen that coming!" moments - this duology is one of those stories where you just forget that you're reading and get absolutely immersed in the world of Ketterdam and these six very wholsesome and complex characters!
