Wer "Das Haus / House of leaves" gelesen hat wird hier definitiv etwas finden das eine ähnliche Nische bedient, auch wenn das Buch bedeutet kürzer ist. Das Buch punktet auf jeden Fall mit einer ungewöhnlichen Prämisse, schafft es aber durchweg spannend und interessant zu bleiben.

Wer "Das Haus / House of leaves" gelesen hat wird hier definitiv etwas finden das eine ähnliche Nische bedient, auch wenn das Buch bedeutet kürzer ist. Das Buch punktet auf jeden Fall mit einer ungewöhnlichen Prämisse, schafft es aber durchweg spannend und interessant zu bleiben.

Ich habe mich unglaublich in dem Buch wiedererkannt, in den Ansichten des Hauptcharakters, ich liebe seinen Blick auf die Welt, seine Faszination, die vielen Menschen heutzutage glaube ich unbekannt ist. Der Plot am Ende war etwas vorhersehbar, das hat mich aber überhaupt nicht gestört. Ich habe die Beschreibungen geliebt, wie Piranesi das Haus entdeckt hat, das worldbuilding… ein Meisterwerk, auch literarisch. Das Beste, das ich seit Langem gelesen habe. Und ich werde es noch viele Male erneut lesen, wenn mir unsere Welt zu viel wird.

Roman ruins and a fantastic, labyrinthine dungeon

I highly recommend this book! It was a delightful reading experience because it is one of those books, where the reader knows more than the protagonist. Which creates a peculiar discrepancy between how the pratagonist sees the world arround him through his naive eyes, whlie we simultaneously gather more and more clues. Also the setting is really beautiful and atmospheric! Piranesi lives between marble columns and giant statues. The only living creatures around are birds, and occasionaly floods come in from the sea.

as it will consume you, all of it. Your memories, your body, your soul. All that's left are Piranesi's diary entries, his field notes. The reader is left with as few pieces of knowledge as Piranesi himself. Susanna Clarke's writing is ingenius, the characters are complex and witty, and her world-building is as grande as the halls that Piranesi wanders through. I cannot put into words how much I love this book. It has everything; a rich exploration of what it means to be a human in a world devoid of human life; a mystery shrouding the halls and vestibules of this House; introspective and emotional moments that will stick with you long after you've finished this book. If you can, pick up this masterpiece!
