Piranesi

I highly recommend this book! It was a delightful reading experience because it is one of those books, where the reader knows more than the protagonist. Which creates a peculiar discrepancy between how the pratagonist sees the world arround him through his naive eyes, whlie we simultaneously gather more and more clues. Also the setting is really beautiful and atmospheric! Piranesi lives between marble columns and giant statues. The only living creatures around are birds, and occasionaly floods come in from the sea.

as it will consume you, all of it. Your memories, your body, your soul. All that's left are Piranesi's diary entries, his field notes. The reader is left with as few pieces of knowledge as Piranesi himself. Susanna Clarke's writing is ingenius, the characters are complex and witty, and her world-building is as grande as the halls that Piranesi wanders through. I cannot put into words how much I love this book. It has everything; a rich exploration of what it means to be a human in a world devoid of human life; a mystery shrouding the halls and vestibules of this House; introspective and emotional moments that will stick with you long after you've finished this book. If you can, pick up this masterpiece!

I adore this book. The writing style, the descriptions, the mysterious atmosphere, the vibe in general. It was dark yet beautiful and the social commentary and critique were great. To be in Piranesi's mind was haunting and scary and still so, so beautiful. I'm in awe!
