The Red House Mystery by A. A. Milne

The One and Only Mystery Novel by A.A. Milne, the creator of Winnie the Pooh, written in 1922. Instead in "Hundred Acre Wood", it takes place at the "Red House", an estate in the english countryside. The centerpiece and most charming part of the novel is its „detective“, Tony Gillingham. A likeable young man who loves adventure and is fortunately also whip-smart, stumbles surprisingly unto the crime scene, just because he wanted to visit his friend, who is a guest at the „Red House“. Together, they set out to solve the crime while having a lot of fun being „Sherlock and Watson“, a parallel the characters draw themselves. This story is a lot of fun, the enigmatic protagonists and their playful banter are wonderful to read, and together with them, the reader uncovers mysteries and secrets in an entertaining way.
