Meet Frendo the clown, who is unfortunately not Pennywise. A midwestern american town is wrecked by economic decline and social divison between „adults“ and „teenagers“. In the middle of the story, people get wrecked by a homicidal clown, the town mascot „Frendo“. Is this story a social drama or slasher? The answer is: both, to varying successful degrees. It was an entertaining read, but I wish it had focused on the slasher plot and held back on the social commentary, because those aspects felt quite heavy handed in the end.
