Blake succeeds in making the tension and attraction between the protagonists palpable, while also leaving room for self-doubt, family conflicts and personal development. There are also non-binary people in supporting roles. For anyone looking for queer-tinged love stories with heart and edge, this comes highly recommended.

Ashley Herring Blake is my go-to author when I want something fun, cute and queer - and her new novel "Dream On, Ramona Riley" is exactly that. It's the first in her new A Clover Lake Novel - series and we also meet some old friends like Iris Kelly in here. I fully enjoyed reading this book and had the best time. So if you want to sink into a dreamy queer rom-com for a bit or are looking for a book that not only makes you grin from ear to ear but also blush quite a bit I wholeheartedly recommend this one (or really anything from Ashley Herring Blake). "Dream On. Ramona Riley" tells the story of Ramona Riley, a small-town waitress, who turned down her dreams of making it big in Hollywood as a costume designer to help out her family during a rough time. She lives her daily life around her dad, sister and best friend April Evans (spoiler - we get to know more about her in the upcoming book of the A Clover Lake - series), when suddenly the whole town is about to be turned upside down. A big movie production is about to film a novel adaption in Clover Lake and the lead actress is no other than Dylan Monore - daughter of THE famous people of 90s rock and often found in tabloids. Dylan is not only an actress who wants to prove she is more than just a chaos riddles nepo baby but also - Ramonas first kiss back when they were kids. Do they remember each other? And what will happen this summer?
