Now this is how you write a sequel! This book picks up where Sarah A. Parker shattered all our hearts at the end of When The Moon Hatched. I am always a bit wary when it comes to the second book in a series, but this blew me away in the best ways possible. If you thought that you can't feel any more pain and misery for these lovely characters, then you're wrong! I love all of them dearly (especially the dragons) and was so glad to see more of their thoughts, emotions and actions throughout the story. Apart from the grief you experience through all of their eyes, there are also such heartfelt moments, which definetly makes all of it worth it. Parker manages to charm you into reading well into the night and still crave more. So this was definetly the highlight of my year and I literally can't wait for the next part to come out. In conclusion: if emotional damage was a book, then it would be this one. -

Devastatingly beautiful
The second book in this series is going to destroy you in the best way possible. The plot unfolds beautifully as we get more answers about some open plotpoints of book one. The characters develop naturally and and the new ones fit perfect into the story. I really liked the (heartbreaking) diary entries as they add an unexpected element to the plot. The Scavenger King is now officially one of my favourite villains - every time he turned up I hated him even more and his own pov only added to that hate. While we're on that subject: I loved the different points of view, because each one brings more depth and context to the plot, drawing you even further into this world. After the heart-wrenching ending to this amazing novel we hopefully won't have to wait too long for the next book.
