Blood Over Bright Haven A Novel

I love this book! The whole word is complex and multi-layered, the character have a real depth to them and they all undergo fantastic developments, especially the female protagonist. Not all characters are likeable or easy to sympathise with, but they are written really well. The topics are heavy and the stakes are high! I really loved the female rage in this book!!! A wonderful and powerful stand alone, I highly recommend this book!

Blood over Bright Haven doesn’t hold back on its heavy themes and a setting that mirrors the real societal struggles we still face today. It offers complex characters, a devious magic system, steampunk elements and much more. One of the best books I’ve read all year.

One of my favorite reads of this year! Wangs incredible talent in writing is showing in her conception of an extremly intriguing and unique magic system which introduced and explained gradually and was really fun to read about. She is also one of the rare writers who can utilize flawed characters in a way that makes the readers root and care for them. I thought the protagonist kinda likeable and at times endearing. The romance was not the focus of the book and only subtly hinted at -- which I personally liked a lot, since everything else would not have fit into the tone and theme of the dark academia setting.
