Rezension

It's hard to believe that In Memoriam is a debut novel as it's so assured, affecting and moving. Alice Winn has written a devastating love story between two young men that moves from the sheltered idyll of their public school to the unspeakable horrors of the Western Front during the First World War. Gaunt and Ellwood will live in your mind long after you've closed the final pages. Maggie O'Farrell

Excelent!

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

You feel like your heart breaks from the first page when you read the death of such young people, and more because you know that this was the case a little over 100 years ago, but in the end, even today there are so many young people affected by war . The realism described leaves you heartbroken. This book is full of beautiful quotes, as well as many references to literature and poetry. It lets you see and feel the consequences of war thanks to these two protagonists and you can really feel the anguish and adrenaline. It makes you wish that they and their friends survived such a disaster. Their romance feels so pure and realistic. I loved.

Alice Winn is an incredible writer. This story gripped me from the very first page. Couldn't put it down. She keeps the events extremely realistic and doesn't shy away from gore and death. 11/10
