"They never let you be famous and happy. I'll be the first"
If you know Achilles and Patroclus, then you know how their story ends. Madeline Miller writes in such a way that each sentence tugs at my heartstrings. Even if I know their fate, it was nice to pretend that maybe there's a happy end for them. It breaks my heart everytime -

"He is half of my Soul, as the poets say."
I love this book with my whole heart!! It's the kind of book that will make you cry like a baby and shatter you - but at the end you will love it. At first the writing was a bit difficult for me to understand but after a few pages i just really couldn't put the book down. The bond between Achilles and Patroclus is beautifully written. For me it is a one of a kind love story. -

The writing was the best part of this book and I really enjoyed it. This entire Book was a journey of life, love and grief. An absolutely heartbreaking and devastating Novel. -

This book will make you cry
A heartbreaking love story and an epic war. We've all heard the myth of the undefeatable hero Achilles ~ the best of warriors in the Trojan War. Madeline Miller tells the story of his life through the eyes of his companion Patroclus. It gives a beautiful insight into the ancient ages, their childhood and the expectations of Achilles as a prince, hero and halfgod. I loved this book, the beautiful writing and the variety of metaphors. Everyone told me that this is a sad book but I still didn't expect to cry so much at the ending. -
