The #1 New York Times bestselling WORLDWIDE phenomenon

Winner of the Goodreads Choice Award for Fiction | A Good Morning America Book Club Pick | Independent (London) Ten Best Books of the Year

"A feel-good book guaranteed to lift your spirits."—The Washington Post

The dazzling reader-favorite about the choices that go into a life well lived, from the acclaimed author of How To Stop Time and The Comfort Book.

Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better?

In
The Midnight Library, Matt Haig's enchanting blockbuster novel, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision. Faced with the possibility of changing her life for a new one, following a different career, undoing old breakups, realizing her dreams of becoming a glaciologist; she must search within herself as she travels through the Midnight Library to decide what is truly fulfilling in life, and what makes it worth living in the first place.

Matt Haig is the author of the internationally bestselling memoir Reasons to Stay Alive, along with five novels, including How to Stop Time, and several award-winning children's books. His work has been translated into more than thirty languages.

Pretty much philosophical

Bewertung am 04.05.2022

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

The book reminded me of my own choices and possibilities I've ignored and decisions I've once made only to regtet them afterwards. My "Book of Regrets" will definitely become thinner thanks to this story.

The book is very well written. It is so easy to read it and follow the story. I fell in love with Matt Haig. He referred to a lot if science, physics and philosophy, which I loved.

Should I stay or should I go?

Bewertet: Buch (Gebundene Ausgabe)

Who in the world hasn't wondered about the other outcomes after facing a decision? Many people who believe they made the wrong decision tend to suffer from a sense of guilt or regret about not knowing how the situation could have gone another way. In this case however Nora has been gifted to review and relive every other choice she could have made from birth up until her suicide at 35, by spending time at the doorsteps of the great beyond. In a library to be exact, she explores different options and turns that she may have lived through depending on her decision making. While reading through these lives Nora thinks about wether this opportunity is curse or blessing. A really outstanding book with a refreshing type of topic.

Inspiring - Inspirierend

Bewertet: Buch (Gebundene Ausgabe)

What if you could try out how your life would be like if only you had decided differently … This is exactly what happens to Nora while hanging in limbo after her suicide-attempt. Emotional without being cheesy, wise but not lecturing, spiritual but without god, this books leaves you with the warm feeling of a true happy ending.
