Jude wächst, wie ihre Schwester bei den Feen auf. Diese allerdings halten nicht viel von den Menschen. Sie verachten sie sogar, auch Jude und ihre Schwester Taryn, die von dem Militärskommandant aufgezogen worden, nachdem er sie aus der Menschenwelt mit in seine eigene gebracht hat. Doch Jude ist nicht auf den Kopf gefallen und obwohl sie der Feenwelt schutzlos ausgesetzt ist und sich den Verführungen immer wieder hingibt, ist es doch sie, die am Feenhof die Intrigen mitbekommt und ihre eigenen Pläne schmiedet, auch, wenn ihr größter Feind - Prinz Cardan das nicht gerade gut heißt. ***kleiner Spoiler am Ende*** Der Schreibstil ist leicht, angenehm und flüssig. Es bestand keine große Schwierigkeit das Buch auf englisch zu lesen. Viele Kapitel zogen sich leider wirklich sehr und andere vergingen etwas zu schnell. Mir persönlich haben weder Jude noch Cardan oder irgendein andere Charakter wirklich zugesagt. Ich fand sie alle oberflächlich und wechselhaft, aber nicht rund eine Entwicklung konnte ich nur schwer beobachten. Die größten Probleme hatte ich mit dem offensichtlichen Hass, der schon sehr in die Richtung Rassismus ging, auch wenn es sich hier um Fantasywesen handelt. Ich hatte absolut keinen Gefallen daran, wie sich Jude hat behandeln lassen und trotzdem in ihrem Angreifer etwas wie "Zuneigung" gefunden hat. Für mich ein absolutes No-Go.

I absolutely devoured this book. The Cruel Prince was my first fantasy read, and it did not disappoint—in fact, it completely hooked me. I ate this book up from start to finish. The world of Faerie is dark, cruel, and glittering in the most dangerous way, and I loved how unapologetically ruthless it was. Nothing felt soft or overly romanticized; instead, the story leaned into political intrigue, power struggles, and survival. The tension throughout the book was addictive. The mind games, betrayals, and shifting alliances made it impossible to put down. Even the characters I hated were fascinating, especially Cardan—cruel, complicated, and impossible to ignore. The dynamic between the characters added so much bite to the story. As my first fantasy book, The Cruel Prince set the bar incredibly high. The writing pulled me straight into the world, and by the end, I was already desperate to continue the series. If you love morally gray characters, sharp dialogue, and a fantasy world that doesn’t hold your hand, this book is absolutely worth the read. It's hard to top such a book. I

I always get lost in the story and find such comfort in all the characters. It’s the perfect mix between enemies to lovers and slow burn. If you like fantasy you’ll love this series. It’s a perfect match for autumn.

Das war mein erstes englischsprachiges Buch, das ich gelesen habe. Ich kann es jedem nur empfehlen, der mit englischen Büchern beginnen möchte. Ich liebe dieses Buch. Vorher hätte ich nicht gedacht, dass mich ein Buch mit Fae und Politik so wahnsinnig fesseln könnte. Ich möchte nicht spoilern, also sage ich nur eins: Du überlegst, ob du es lesen sollst? Mach es:)

I am completely in love with this book! The whole world of "Elfhame" is so well described, I actually want to live there! I also really like the characters and their development throughout the story. There are so many plottwists. So if you like faeries, enemies-to-lovers and hidden worlds, this is definitely a must read!
