Wer kann sich einem Roman entziehen, der einen Menschen mit Namen Ahab schildert, der seine ganze Energie darauf verwendet seine Rache an "Moby Dick" - dem weißen Wal - zu befriedigen. Um am Ende festzustellen, dass für Ihn die einzige Befriedigung in seinem Tod liegt. Und er nicht nur sich ins Verderben stürzt, sondern auch die gesamte Mannschaft seines Schiffs "Pequod", und es mit Ismael nur einen Überlebenden gibt. Auch wenn Herman Menville zuweilen sehr ausschmückend ist, so verzeihe ich Sie Ihm, und denke mir, er war so voller Tatendrang uns bis in kleinste Detail zu beschreiben, was der Walfang damals bedeutete. Dieser Roman ist eine Hommage an die Natur und welche großartige Geschöpfe Sie hervorbringt, und dass wir diese Geschöpfe achten sollte. Und Moby Dick ist eins dieser Geschöpfe.

Ich wollte schon immer die Odysee lesen und ich dachte zuerst es wäre eine schlechte Übersetzung, weil es nicht so richtig in Gedichtsform verfasst wurde. Ist aber glaube ich richtig und wenn mein reinkommt ins Lesen dann ist die Geschichte schon ein bisschen lustig. Athene ist aber der eigentliche Main Charakter und Odysseus wäre ohne sie 3 mal gestorben. Ich empfehle es unter anderem auch weil es sehr schön im Regal aussieht.
