Disenchanted

This is now the third time Lucy Jane Wood has managed to transport the reader into a fantasy world in which the female protagonist must discover her own strength in order to accept her (magical) abilities. In this third instalment Sage receives encouragement from Casimir, Maggie and her cat, Mal. I had no trouble giving the two previous books five stars without a second thought, but in this case I’m unfortunately finding it a bit difficult. Somehow the story and I just didn’t really click, even though the fairy tale aspect was genuinely interesting ans I also liked the characters. Towards the end I was also left wanting a bit more of an explanation for the big „why“ of the story – after all, why did this curse apply to fairy tale situations, and why could some of them be resolved quiet easily? However, apart from that point, I had a lot of fun reading this novel and will happily reach for this author’s books time and again whenever I fancy a cosy and witchy read.
