Following the "Broken Blades" series Corland wrote a Locked Room Murder Mysery inspired by ancient Rome. She has woven different elements like politics, intrigues and just the right among of romance into an engaging story. The High Priestess Kerasea is forced to hide her origin and the praetorian Torren is tasked with solving the murders at the conclave and identifying the liars (and murderer) in their mist - which puts Kerasea high on the list of suspects as she's a skilled liar who could loose everything if her secrets were uncovered. I flew through the pages as Corlands storytelling is compelling, the chapters are short and the mystery kept me guessing until the unexpected ending. Many questions are still unanswered and will hopefully be solved in the second book.
