Children of Fallen Gods The War of Lost Hearts

Naturally, after having loved the first book in this series, my expectations for the sequel were pretty high. Usually the second book always disappoints in a few ways - mainly the pacing - so I was blown away when this book not only delivered in its action packed plot, but also in the more in depth characterisation of the cast. With the new character Aefe comes a new interesting layer to the grand schemes in Broadbent's political world - one that I didn't expect to find as intriguing as I did. This definetly shows the author's ability to write good-structured plotlines in combination with a lush and rich worldbuilding. All of these aspects lead to several mind-blowing plot-twists, that left me with such a bad book-hangover. The wait for the third book is going to be torture.
