But in my opinion the story handles this heavy topic with a lot of care and realism—it doesn’t shy away from the lasting impact of trauma, but it also never lets it define the entire journey. What makes this book so special to me is how it evolves from that pain and trauma into something beautiful and healing. The not-so-slow-burn romance is heartfelt but respectful, showing what it truly means to rebuild trust and find safety in another person after going through something like that. And the ranch setting adds a warm, coforting backdrop to Cecilys story of healing. Bailey Hannah strikes an amazing balance between the hard truths of abuse and the confusing times of falling in love again and building trust. There are many moments of growth and finding back to yourself, but also doubts and struggle along the way. This is not just a romance—it’s a story of strength, of hope, of revenge and the kind of love that helps you heal. I’m so glad I picked it up, and I’ve already ordered the next two books in the series. Highly recommend if you’re looking for something deeply emotional with just the right amount of cowboys and spice
