Illustrated Classics - Time Machine: Abridged Novels with Review Questions (Hardback)

I will be honest, I had no expectations for this one, however I have to say that I was quickly intrigued by H.G. Wells' Time Machine. The writing was fluent and what I liked the most, was that his protagonist remained unnamed. This creates a distance between the reader and character which makes it feel like one is reading a research diary. The story itself is short, yet gripping and follows the story of a scientist, who uses a time machine and then finds himself in another timeline. There he meets two types of creatures, the Eloi and the Morlocks one being friendly and the other ones vicious. After he realises that the time machine has disappeared he has to face his and the kinder species' greatest fear. I highly recommend the book if one wants to read into one of the first dystopian novels and I will for sure be reading more of Wells' work in the future.
