This book felt like taking a mini vacation into the world of Brandon Sanderson, as well as into the grand plots of fantasy and sci-fi novels in general. It was entertaining and funny, told a bit like a fairy tale but not quite, and I loved that. I especially loved that the woman in this story takes matters into her own hands and wants to save the men she loves. I enjoyed the little lessons sprinkled throughout, the philosophical life advice, and the idea that even someone as ordinary and “boring” as the main character can go out into the world and find her own adventure. Watching her overcome the fear that cripples so many of us was amazing and refreshing. Tress has no special powers. She is not the “chosen one,” a “hidden princess from a long-lost bloodline,” or someone with surprising magical abilities, just an ordinary girl in love who is stubbornly determined to reach her goal. I LOVED IT! Pick it up and read it, but read at least the Mistborn trilogy first. Otherwise, it will only be half as fun

5 stars. Best fantasy book of the year 2024. Loved the characters, the romance, the writing, the humour. Chef’s kiss I am not a Brandon Sanderson fan but this book worked and was just mesmerising
