Meine letzte Rezension Tress of the Emerald Sea von Brandon Sanderson
Tress of the Emerald Sea was one of my favourite books of 2025! It had one of the most unique narration styles I have ever encountered as its being told by a side character that is interwoven in the plot. The magic system was so fun to read, it being based on magical spores. I loved the main character Tress as well! She was brave when she needed to be, curious and kindhearted. The plot was fast-paced, but also had some cozy elements to it. There was a loveable side-kick as well! So everthing a good fantasy story needs! The ending twist was masterfully done too, I did not see it coming! I know Brandon Sanderson has a nick for vast magical worlds and mind-bending universes, but this standalone was a great gateway into his writing!

    The Enchanted Greenhouse

I swear this series has my heart! I honestly can't think of much to say other than: Read it! At least if you like cozy fantasy or if you are in the mood for something whimsy and to the core magical. These books really remind me of some Ghibli movies: the love to nature, yummy food, topic of found family and this craving for a simple but fullfilling life. Exploring the enchanted greenhouses, while a cute romance blossoms between Terlu and the gardener was so much fun to read! I like the slow burn of the romance and the heartwarming character growth. The writing style is whimsy and lush, I can always imagine the scenes in these books so well! I like the magic system/spell work a lot too, as its based on playing with precise language - the trail and error gave the story extra relateability, when it came to character development. Btw you don't necessarily need to read the first one (The Spellshop), if the theme of winter and gardening peeks your interest more! ❄️

    The Vegetarian

This book was...something. It was absolutely mesmerizing and can't stop thinking about it, since I finished reading. Its the kind of story that crawls under your skin as you slowly understand what it wants to tell you. To the core a story about abuse, assault and losing the right and autonomy over your own body. The main charcters desperate fight to get her own mind and body back, through the most basic, instinctual urges: the decision on what to eat. There are so many layers to this story and hidden meanings that I probably glossed over at the first read. This is definitely a book that you have to read multiple times to grasp all the deeper meanings. It was captivating, thoughtprovoking and horrific but strangely, beautifully written. I am in absolute awe over this book!

    The Phoenix Keeper

I can't get over how sweet and well written this whole story was! It was cozy, wholesome, thrilling and romantic at the same time. So many good aspects of this book: a FMC with anxiety that has phenominal character growth, an unique zoo setting, magical creatures, heartwarming friendship and interesting love interests with LQBTQ representation! What would a reader ever want more?

The Sun and the Starmaker (Deluxe Edition)

The Sun and the Starmaker just felt like an old-school fairy tale to me. It was whimsy, magical, with an heartfelt romance and it discusses important life lessons. Although the book is YA Fantasy adults will still enjoy this as well, as it doesn't shy away from difficult topics like grief, death and dealing with fear. It especially made me emotional when Aurora had to leave her family behind, to face her fate as the next Starmaker. The romance in this book was really intruiging to me, as it wasn't straightforward and both characters were filled with understandable doubts, fears. After all, their love is destined to be tragic and impossible. Sure, they could have fixed a lot of their issues with open communication, but as Aurora is pretty young and the Starmaker isolated from society for a long time, I felt it was reasonable for them to be a little awkward in that regard. But ulitmately what made me fall in love with this story was the setting and the magic system. A village that is damned to be in a forever winter, can only thrive through the Starmaker: the person that summons the power of the Sun. To conclude: A MUST for everyone who loves fairy tales like Beauty and the Beast and The Snow Queen, but with a new twist.

    Umlaufbahnen
