Before the Coffee Gets Cold Special Edition with Sprayed Edges

I haven’t read something like this in a long time. I am starting to love reading books from Japanese authors. This books starts as light hearted, fun time travel book in a cafe but with each passing “chapter” or part in the book, the overall picture gets bigger and bigger. Life lessons are intertwined between carefully chosen words as to not ruin the momentum. You start loving the character and rooting for them which in turn will hurt if they get hurt, too. There is still and eerie mysterious air around it and there are still things left unspoken so I am very excited to continue with this journey with the next three books. Needless to say (if it wasn’t obvious already) one of my favourite books this year for sure.

Das kleine Cafe namens "Funiculi Funicula" hat sofort mein Herz erobert. Was als leichte, angenehme Erzählung begonnen hat, hat sich zu einer tiefgründigen Geschichte entwickelt, die auch selbst zum Nachdenken anregt... Wen würdest du besuchen, wenn du die Möglichkeit hättest in die Vergangenheit zu reisen? Welche Worte würdest du in der Zeit, die ein Kaffee zum Abkühlen braucht, loswerden? Genau vor diesen Entscheidungen stehen die interessanten und liebenswerten Charaktere, die alle auf ihre eigene Weise mit dem Zeitreisen umgehen. 'Before the Coffee gets cold' ist der perfekte Roman für einen regnerischen Tag und eine Tasse Tee. Oder natürlich eine Tasse Kaffee! :)

this book is just perfect to read on the train in the colder months. if ur looking for something with an interesting plot and intense storyline this won't be for you but it's easy to read and very heartwarming

Ein kleines Cafe in Tokio, ein unscheinbarer Sitzplatz und drei Uhren die alle unterschiedliche Zeiten aber nie die richtige Uhrzeit anzeigen. Die Geschichte ist wunderschön und die Charaktere um die Haupthandlung herum bereichern diese nur noch weiter. Die Geschichte der Liebenden hat mich zum weinen gebracht und das ist bei Gott nicht einfach. Definitive Empfehlung. Habe bereits alle (derweil 5) Teile durch.

This book is currently breaking my heart in many ways, while also healing it right afterwards. To me, it is about the things we often do not hear, the times, we did not listen, the times we let our own pride or expectations get a hold of us and led us to ignore all other possibilities. It’s often the unspoken things, that lead to life’s tragedies and lots of regrets. I personally like the fact that this book made me think about how I do things in my life, how I listen, how I consider the feelings and expectations of others. I did not think that it would make me reflect on exactly those things actually, so I’m positively surprised by the deep meaning of each story. I can only recommend it.
