    Buch (Taschenbuch)

    A quick and cute read

Arthur & Teddy are not only coming out but also are the best grandpa/grandson duo ever! About two coming outs and how helpful a supportive family member is. This book is full of emotions - especially good ones :)

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

    One of these comfort books.

The story was really insanely adorable! It was easy to read and you just floated along. I especially took Arthur to my heart and found it touching to see how he was finally able to be himself, despite the hatred he was shown, especially at the beginning of the book. A great novel about being yourself. No matter what age! :)

Not as cozy as you might think

Arthur God, do I adore this man. He's the kind gay grandpa we all deserve. But he is way too forgiving, not hesitating for a moment letting people who have been horrible to him back into his life. It's okay to cut toxic people out, Arthur, I promise. You deserve better. Teddy Well, Teddy also is way too forgiving but only to some people and not others. He's actually kind of an immature dickhead who can't make up his mind about what he truly wants. But he's barely an adult and his dad died. As someone who also lost a parent at 18, I actually can relate to him. He still infuriated me sometimes, but honestly, I was no better at that age so I have no right to judge him. It's hard coming back to reality after everyone else seems to have moved on without you and you're more scared of losing people. Give that man some therapy, he really needs it. Conclusion Many parts of this book did leave me with a sour taste. I get Arthur, but Teddy was also way too forgiving when people were homophobic towards him. I also expected this to be an uplifting cozy read (literally says uplifting on the cover) but it's not. It tackles some really dark themes that come with homophobia and they hit you really hard when you don't expect them. If you consider reading you should really check if some of the topics could trigger you. Still, I didn't hate the book completely or something like that. Especially Arthur's journey made me smile a lot. That man deserves all the happiness and so does his wife, who is still his biggest cheerleader. I don't care if some things were just a little too convenient, Arthur deserves all the good things. About Teddy, he is great in supporting his granddad and he is not an evil villain or anything, but he definitely has some growing up to do, which is fine because he's only 21 and like I mentioned before, it was a bit like looking in a past mirror. Despite that, this book is a bit too pro nepotism and forgiving family and friends for the most disgusting behaviour and also slandering a character for no reason and out of the blue to make others more sympathetic, that's why I can't in good faith give it more than 3 stars. And they all belong to Arthur. Maybe half a star to Oscar, because I really enjoyed that side character. So 3.5 stars then.
