Throne of Glass

Celaena needs to go to a work camp until she dies , but the king suddenly orders her to the castle. The king is looking for a personal assasin and as one of the mist known assasins there Celaena gets to participate in a competition to serve the king. While she fights against the other candidates , she must also fight against her feelings , as both the captain as the prince make her feel emotions she cannot allow.

Der erste Teil von der „Throne of Glass“ Serie, geschrieben von Sarah J. Maas, hat mich, obwohl ich durch den großen Hype um das Buch hohe Erwartungen hatte, positiv überrascht. Ich konnte sehr schnell in die Welt Erilea und das Königreich Adarlan eintauchen, lernte die Charaktere schätzen und besonders die Protagonistin lieben. Von einer willensstarken Assassinin über ein Love-Triangle, Feind- und Freundschaften ist das World Building durch aus gelungen und ich hoffe, dass sich das über die weiteren Bände noch vertieft. Das Einzige was mich ein bisschen gestört hat waren die oft zu detaillierten Beschreibungen der Kleider und ausgelassenen Beschreibungen der Räumlichkeiten (das Glas-Schloss zum Beispiel). Anfangs, hatte das Buch ein etwas langsameres Tempo, doch nach langem Aufbau und Exposition-Dumps, wurde es schlagartig spannend und ich konnte das Buch kaum zur Seite legen. „Throne of Glass“ bekommt von mir eine absolute Empfehlung für das Ambiente, World-Building und die Charaktere und Ich bin schon sehr gespannt wie die Serie weiter geht.

I want to be honest with you. Throne of Glass has been a book, I’ve been thinking about reading for a million years. At least. Whenever I decided to finally read it, I found something “better” (I know I should be punished for my unhinged behavior). But as soon as I had my foot in Sarah J. Maas’s magical world of High Lord’s and Ladies, Fae’s, and Shadow Daddies in acotar, there was no going back (but that’s another story and another review, for another day). And yes, I have to admit, that I needed something to get over acotar (not that getting over acotar is ever possible), but at least I could stay a little bit longer in the SJM universe. Now that I’m already 5 books deep (currently inhaling Empire of Storms) and older but not necessarily wiser, I know It was a huge mistake to prefer ANY other Romantasy book over SJM (this is not a SJM appreciation post, but it has potential to be one). However, I’m not gonna lie to you, my fellow mortals, but Tog is the weakest book of the series, and I almost passed out of boredom and started questioning my life choices. But I also know that anything I say about this book can and will be held against me by SJM, the queen of shadow Daddies because I already know she’s going to throw plot twists at me (wait for Heir of Fire) and wreck my world with the rest of the series. So I decided to suffer and read the book and actually managed to finish it. I fought for my life, and It was totally worth the pain. So HEAR ME OUT. YOU HAVE TO READ THIS SERIES. That is all.
