Meine letzte Rezension Beautiful Fiend von Lola King
Tropes: rival gangs, bully romance, enemies to lovers, hate to love, forbidden love, rough love, aspiring MMA fighter FMC, extremely unhinged MMC, obsessive/possessive MMC, forced proximity through blackmail, toxic love, non con, dub con, broken/traumatic past, trauma bonding, kidnapping--------------- “You're mine. How could you ever think I'd choose any path in life other than the one that leads right to you.”---------- Welcome back to the darker corner of book reviews and I have a fucking dark romance banger for you and I DARE YOU to read this book. Quick to plot and I’ll keep it quick and spoiler-free so you can actually enjoy it: two rival gangs battle each other for control over the North Shore. After a kidnapping-situation between Caden (the Kings) and Billie (NSC), Caden uses my girl Billie for a dangerous job via blackmailing. The vibes are like Romeo and Juliet, but make it pitch black and the plot is a fucking WILD RIDE. CADEN KING. Also a fucking wild ride. ( ¬ᴗ¬) Imagine Killian Carson (God of Malice) and Malachi Vize (Little Stranger) in one person. That’s Caden King. And I want him to fucking marry me because I love me an obsessive man who makes fucking pancakes for me in the morning AND unalives a person or two for me in the evening. Like, how romantic is that? He is the proudest psychopath who literally sold himself into an orgy to help his girl...and they say romance is death. (¬_¬) BILLIE SCOTT.---------- “Maybe because we’re in the dark. In the softness of the night, reality doesn’t exist. When the moon shines and the monsters come out, I’m allowed to give in to them.” THIS GIRL. She can also marry me lol. She is an aspiring MMA fighter and one of the few fmc’s in dark romance (not pitch black; pitch black fmc’s are unmatched) who I actually had respect for. She is loyal, fierce, strong, beautiful and fucking hot. Her storyline stressed me tf out. The way she handled the whole situation; with her duties for NSC, her training for the MMA, Caden using her for his job (I wanted to fucking strangle him) AND falling in love with him at the same time (who wouldn't though). It was EXHAUSTING. But this is dark romance in all its glory: dark, messy, unhinged, romantic, intense and complex and for the folks out there complaining about this dark romance book being well…dark. How’s life going? Don’t be like them; read the TRIGGER WARNINGS and enjoy the ride. If you can. ------- (Read in Englisch).

    Little Stranger

Tropes: forbidden romance, dark taboo romance, foster siblings, revenge, stalker, mute MMC, obsessive & possessive MMC, fear play, somnophilia, arranged marriage, hunter vs prey, slow burn dark romance ----------------- WTF did I just read? HOLY SHIT. I’m obsessed. The first part was slower because everything builds up, but in a very addictive way, like, I was hooked IMMEDIATELY. But the second part. THE SECOND PART guys. ALL. HELL. BREAK. LOSE. Crazy shit happens and things get absolutely out of control, and IT DOESN’T STOP. Every chapter is pure madness. A straightforward MESS. It is so fast-paced, my body was literally in fight or flight mode THE WHOLE TIME. I had to remind myself “not real siblings” probably a thousand times while reading, but the constant reminder with phrases like “I’m your brother/I’m your sister” made it IMPOSSIBLE to ignore. Like, I know that’s a kink too in this book, but I GET IT. YOU ARE BROTHER AND SISTER fml. This book is mindf at its finest, and the comfort read my dark soul needed (god forbid a girl takes self-care seriously). Finishing this scandalous Wattpad masterpiece within hours, yes, DID make me question a lot of things, *not my sanity, tbh, cause I’ve lost that a long time ago*, and I probably need therapy cause I giggled through the whole thing. What you need to know is that this is not your average dark romance book with some spice here and there. This is 20% plot and 80% PURE SMUT HEAVEN straight out of hell. And tbh I want to stop questioning my obviously questionable tbr choices IN THIS EXACT MOMENT and accept it for what it is. And MALACHI. HOLD MY KINDLE. He is hot AF. Yes, he is an unhinged nightmare that screams RED FLAG and a psychopath who probably needs god or therapy or both if you ask me (I can never look at screwdriver in a normal way again), and he manipulated me into loving him (not that it’s hard cause I have a weakness for dark individuals and zero self-control, which is not the ideal combination but definitely fun tho ¯\_(ツ)_/¯). I just think that deep down he’s soft and broken and lonely and just needs his (FOSTER) sister, and my heart hurts for him, and I want to give him a hug and tell him that he’s not alone (what in the abused screwdriver is wrong with me). He has my heart, and I’m ready to fight for him; don't try me. Anyways. Olivia. I HATE HER. She is such a deranged, pathetic, selfish, and hypocritical fcked up person, and not a single soul walking the surface of mother earth can convince me that she really loves Malachi. Like HOWWW? She never acknowledges him, never defends him, and never chooses his side. She rejects him over and over and treats him SO BADLY, like, since Mal is mute, he only communicates with sign language, and when they fight, she holds his hands so he can't speak to her. That’s straight up evil. F her. (SPOILER) She does things with Malachi on the passed-out (maybe even dead) body of her father (Malachi beats him up for interrupting them), drenched in his blood, even begs for him to continue several times, and has the time of her life just to testify AGAINST him right after in court for beating up her father (who abused him his WHOLE LIFE), which leads him to being imprisoned for 8 years. THEN tells everyone that he’s defective and a weirdo and STILL has the nerves to show up and be like “I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean any of it”. GUYSSS. I’M TIREEDD. She deserves NOTHING after how she treated him and needs to leave him tf alone. Anyways. Justice for the poor screwdriver.

    Under your Scars

Tropes: dark stalker romance, romantic tragedy, serial killer, anti-hero, obsessed stalker MMC, masked MMC, billionaire CEO, touch her and die, forced proximity, psychological trauma, physical trauma, hidden identity, non-con, captivity, kidnapping, obsessive love, soulmates, trauma bonding, no HEA, multiple POV ---------- “You can ask me for anything else, Elena, anything else, and I'll give it to you without hesitation. Don't ask me to live without you. I won't survive.” ----------------- I wonder how Ariel N. Anderson sleeps at night knowing her book ruined someone's life. That’s me. I’m someone and this book ripped my soul apart. I needed exact 6 months to get myself to write this review. 6 FUCKING MONTHS. And I’m still not ok. I’m still heartbroken and devastated. But I think this book deserves all the praise in the world, so let’s go. Here’s the plan (you know it’s serious when I need a plan to write a review, don't judge me): I’ll talk about the characters first, then move on to plot and vibes, and finish with a goddamn drink because I’ll fcking need it. THE SILENCER. ---------“If you’re so concerned about my humanity, Elena, then reach into my soul and find it, because I’m not sure I have any left.”---------- HEAR ME OUT. He is one of the greatest MMCs ever written. When I talk about morally grey characters- THIS IS WHAT I MEAN. He is one of the hottest and most charismatic antiheroes I’ve ever come across in dark romance; deeply broken with the biggest heart who makes you see fcking green flags everywhere (not that I have any problems with seeing green in every shade of red I’m fucking colorblind). The complexity of his character is phenomenally well written. His ability to feel and love so deeply while trying to do the right thing even if it means being the antihero, THE VILLAIN. He felt like safety and there was something so fragile in the way he loved Elena and the way he cared for her. ELENA. She is a brilliant young woman who happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time and what this angel had to endure ripped my heart into a thousand pieces and made me so angry. She was the light at the center of the darkness and she deserved ONE FUCKING CHANCE. But the brutal world she lived in and the men who crossed her way refused to make that possible or took it away the second there was a glimpse of a chance and I don’t think that I’ll ever get over this feeling. The unfairness of everything that happened to her. She and her story were so beautifully well written; I truly believe I’ll forever mourn the life she never got the chance to live but deserved and NEEDED so so much. The PLOT TWISTS. Are you fucking kidding me? I didn’t expect ANY of what happened. The story is very slow-paced until that point, but then it gets pitch black and the twist is finally twisting. And let me be honest; at one point I really thought about dnf-ing the book. It was like a very spicy billionaire stalker romance, and nothing really happened besides them doing well… doing IT. And I saw so many 6-star ratings, readers, booktokers, and bookstagrammers SOBBING and crying their eyes out and I couldn’t understand WHY. But I want to take this moment to thank me for being patient and not giving up because the whole book turns from a dnf to a 6-star emotional damage in a second. Everything changes. It’s like a beautiful summer day being interrupted by a brutal storm and boy, the wait is fucking worth it- I PROMISE. The plot twist was a punch in my face and a big turning point and fucked me up badly. Reading after that point felt like desperately watching everything slipping out of your hands and shattering into a thousand pieces and all you can do is helplessly watch. After that scene with Elena, everything starts spiraling. From the day their paths crossed, they were doomed, and no matter how badly they tried to make it work against all odds, they just weren’t meant to be. The vibes of this book are Batman X Haunting Adeline X Romeo & Juliet with “I Love You” by Billie Eilish playing in the background. I’ve never read anything like this before. This book took a piece of my soul, and I don’t care I’m going to start recommending this book to every single person so we can suffer collectively. There is no way I suffer alone. God of Wrath

I unashamedly have to tell you that I was on my knees before I even started GOW because Jeremy Volkov has me in a chokehold since GOM, and I’m so ready, like SO READY to share my highly anticipated and unapologetic thoughts in this review, that without doubt has potential to be a Jeremy Volkov appreciation post. Just so you know what you are getting yourself into, reading this *review*. Oh, and please read the menu. So you don’t get yourself traumatized by my man, Jeremy Volkov (unless you are here especially to get yourself traumatized just like me) because OMG. Jeremy killed me and rebirted my helpless lost soul straight away with that scene where he came instead of Landon and my body LITERALLY has been in survival mode the whole time (I think it still is tho) and I refuse to believe that he is fictional. I’m just being delusional and pretend that he exists somewhere out there, *criesindespair*. He is UNdeniably the most psychopathic psychopath in the Legacy of Psychopaths, and I have a weakness for MMC’s with *lightly* unhealthy tendencies. Apparently, when someone says red flag, I want to see how red it truly gets, If you know what I mean *itsmytoxictrait*. Idk I’m just a sucker for heavily tattooed, motorcycle riding, possessive individuals, that get totally flustered when getting the sparkly heart emoji. He even managed to manipulate me into thinking that stalking can be romantic if done for the right reasons, like stalking her room while she’s totally wasted and buying her the sequels of her favorite books to make her late-night visits at his gothic mansion extra comfy. I mean, please stalk me and buy my favorite books; I'll leave the window wide open for you, Jeremy. I’d PLAY RUSSIAN ROULETTE with you anytime, *respectfullyasksyoutoremeberthewarning*. Anyway, I’m gonna stop right here because this is getting slightly outta control. Jeremy and his Lisichka had me by my neck THE ENTIRE BOOK. Their soulmate energy is just SO GOOD and intense and pure and deep, and everything my dark soul needed. I literally bawled my eyes out and felt miserable. If I were a meme at that moment, I’d be queen Elle Woods shouting LIAR and throwing her chocolates at the TV. Seriously, after Jeremy and Cecily, I know that Nikolai and Brandon will be the end of me. They are my *romanempire* and I love both of them so much. I am and always will be a sucker for MM Romance but DARK MM ROMANCE? With Nikolai and his Lotus Flower? I already eat up all the NikoBran crumbs RK throws at me like it’s my last meal on earth, and I need them RIGHT NOW. Anyways. I recommend this book.

    God of Malice

Killian Carson, a cold-blooded living red flag, who took possessive and territorial to a whole new level and reinvented "her body, her choice". Killian "saves" Glyn’s life, and the madness begins. He steals her heart by being an extremely good-looking, obsessive psychopath with a god complex and no empathy. Not accepting any rejections from her, he manipulates her into a relationship with him. With Killian, Rina Kent outdid every dark character in the dark romance genre that exists (if there’s a darker one, please let me know). Above all, what makes his character special is his energy. He is THE unapologetic villain, and I’m totally here for it. Glyndon King is the typical "adorable but average girl next door". She developed an inferiority complex due to her outstanding artistic family (especially her Brothers), which gets better after meeting her new nightmare, aka Killian, the heavenly good-looking inspiration she didn’t know she needed to find her creativity. Even though she should be running for her precious life, she falls in love with him and somehow manages to understand what’s going on inside his twisted mind. My thoughts on this scandalous masterpiece? A disturbing, smoothly written piece of smut-heaven totally carried by Killian’s psychopathic dark energy. Being in his head was a crazy ride-or-die experience that I enjoyed waaay too much. If you can abandon all notions of feminism, morality and critical thinking for this book, I’m pretty sure you will enjoy this unhinged nightmare as much as I did.

    Little Liar

Tropes: dark romance, dark taboo romance, foster siblings, forbidden romance, dark past, trauma bonding, fear play, primal play, somnophilia, revenge, soul mates, possessive and obsessive MMC, mute MMC, masked MMC, non-con, slow burn dark romance, kidnapping, revenge, obsessive love-------- Guess who’s back with another pitch-black comfort read? Of course it’s me and I’M ON MY KNEES (again). MALACHI VIZE. THE KING THAT YOU ARE. People are mad as hell, but this book is EVERYTHING. Pure Chaos (and if you know me, you know that I love me a little chaotic smutty book that challenges the living fck out of me). I didn't know I could love him more than I already did, but guess what? I was so wrong. Malachi Vize and Jeremy Volkov (Legacy of Gods) share the first place on my self-proclaimed HAHPPWMDRBBL- “hot as hell psychopaths preferably with motorcycle dark romance book boyfriend list” (don’t judge me, I know you also have lists and this is a safe space for dark romance readers) and it takes A LOT to change that (don’t you dare call yourself a dark romance reader if you don’t know who these two are). The first part of the book is a recap of Little Stranger but from Malachi's POV, and it was like rereading my favorite book but from my favorite character's POV. ICONIC. Little Stranger is one of my favorite dark romance books EVER and rereading the iconic spice from my favorite dark romance MMC’s POV was so exciting and had me giggling through the whole first part (I know I’m not the only one giggling my way through the most smutty, crazy and disturbing dark romance books like it’s an Emily Henry summer romance) and I’m especially saying the first part of Little Liars because the spice and tension in Little Strangers is UNMATCHED. God, I love that so much about LS- the nerve-wracking feeling that they will be caught at any time is so addictive. I constantly had the feeling of knowing something I shouldn’t know and I felt like I was participating in something forbidden and this feeling made me even check my surroundings while reading this smutty piece of iconicness. It crawls under your skin and makes you crave more and more and more. Seriously, I’ve never read something like that in my life. Little Stranger wasn’t morally grey; it was “morally straight from fcking hell” and the color to describe that level of madness just doesn’t exist. Malachi’s entire existence revolves around Olivia seeing him, choosing him, loving him back. Even tho he has her now, he still thinks he is not enough; after all, he never was enough for anyone- at some point not even Olivia. Him thinking he’s not worth anything and his desperation to just be enough for someone, anyone, broke my heart. He’s living in so much fear of losing Olivia, (honestly, who tf can blame him? that bitch made his life a living hell) and he fully believes that she will wake up one day and just abandon him, betray him like she did before AND HE HAS ALL THE FCKING RIGHTS TO BELIEVE THAT. Seeing the events through his eyes shattered my heart in a thousand pieces, but his POV was so fcking important to really understand him not just in LL but also in LS, and Leigh Rivers is a genius for showing us his POV. My love for Malachi runs so fcking deep- my brain just can’t comprehend it anymore. He is one of the HOTTEST characters existing and Malachi Vize in a gas mask chasing me will fcking heal me. Olivia Vize. She is THE iconic Olivia Vize (no surprise you’ll never find boring characters in Leigh Rivers books. I promise.) and I love her so so so much. Reading about why she did what she did and her finally finding the strength to stand up and fight for herself and Malachi made me love her even more. And you know what? I realized in this second that I need to reread LS & LL RIGHT NOW. Leigh, if you’re reading this, you need to write at least one more damn book for them, I’m respectfully begging you?

    Still Beating

Tropes: dark taboo romance, enemies to lovers, hate-to-love, slow burn, soulmates, forbidden love, kidnapping, captivity, non-con, trauma bonding, forced proximity, multiple POV, emotional intensity, sisters fiance------------- It was a dark and rainy late Friday evening when I decided to read this book. I grabbed a cup of tea, a piece of cake and sat in my favorite spot to read. My cup became empty, my cake long gone, I barely moved off my spot. I went to sleep with about 100 pages left, bawling my eyes out, woke up immediately had tears in my eyes the second this book came to my mind. I don’t know if it was a good idea to listen to Six Feet Under by Billie Eilish ON REPEAT until the end, but that song just belongs to this book and to their story, and the combination fcked me up big time. BIG TIME. I WAS A MESS. Dean and Cora have my heart for fcking ever. I can’t remember the last time I rooted so hard for a couple to make it. Their energy is the beating heart of this book. And Cora. She is written so outstandingly well. See, nobody wants to deal with difficult characters. Nobody wants to deal with characters who can’t find their way out anymore and get stuck in the darkness (I’m a Nesta person with all my being, and I’ll fight for her till the end of fcking time; don’t try me). Those who dare to make mistakes. Who dare to listen to their heart. The unlikable and the unwanted. Those who can’t move on. Who are at war with themselves. Who are ANGRY. I totally believe, with all my being, that we don’t get enough of them, especially in dark romance, AND WE NEED TO PROTECT THEM AT ALL COSTS. And that's the reason why Jennifer Hartmann will forever hold a special place in my bookshelf. For being brave enough to write about the truth and not forget about the broken and lost ones because they deserve to be heard and read about. No matter how ugly it gets. And the moment Dean and Cora saw each other for the first time again? I swear to you I stopped breathing. The world vanished around them, and they were the only people left in the world. They are otherworldly and beyond beautiful, and my love for them runs so insanely deep. Ugh. I need a drink.

    God of Fury

Tropes: MM dark romance, mafia prince x golden boy, grumpy x scary sunshine, gay awakening, enemies to lovers, brother's enemy, stalking, revenge, both MMCs are obsessive/ possessive, trauma bonding, dark past, secret past, secret relationship, touch him and die (literally), push and pull, psycho MMC turns sunshine for him, college romance------------------- “I missed him. I missed him to the point of insanity. I missed him until I couldn’t breathe.” Ms. Kent, you absolutely had no rights to break my heart like that. Please do it again. As a Heathens Girl, this book means the world to me. I (and I’m pretty sure there are many other readers who can agree) fell in love with Nikolai & Bran waaaay before God of Fury because their attraction was ALWAYS there. They had even more attraction in the other Legacy of Gods books than some of the ACTUAL couples, even when they were mentioned in only a few sentences. And to get crumbs for 4 books and to finally read their story was so special. I wouldn’t say it’s THE best Legacy of Gods book (Jeremy “Russian Roulette” Volkov is my number 1- my never ending love for him may influence my decisions), but it's undeniably one of her best (I also have a soft spot for God of Malice). I wouldn’t call God of Fury a dark romance, to be honest. I think it’s a very (VEEEERY) smutty romance with heavy mental health topics, but smut (and heavy mental health topics) ≠ dark romance. There wasn’t anything dark about their romance, their behavior towards each other or whatsoever. Even the stalking trope wasn’t dark like it is in dark romance- it was rather clingy and goofy and well… cute. The only darkness was them fighting their own demons and mental health issues, which again had a big impact on their relationship. It is a very trope-heavy book with very popular tropes like grumpy x sunshine which in my opinion was overdone and overshadows and simplifies both of them, their love for each other and their characters and what they’re going through- each as an individual person and together. As for Brandon, I was so excited to finally read his story and POV. I loved him so, so much in the other books and my love for him only deepened with God of Fury. I already knew that he is the grumpy character (social media victim here), so that wasn’t a big surprise for me but I honestly didn’t expect that he struggled so much. His pain and suffering were phenomenally well written and I say that as a pitch black girly who most of the time reads books with very heavy topics and tropes and REALLY dark emotional books. I felt it to my core and just wanted to take him out of the nightmare that was his reality, in which he mastered living in so perfectly without a single soul noticing him (MY POOR BABY). And by all means, the grumpy label on his character is a shame. And that is exactly what I meant by saying that overdone or misused tropes overshadow the depth and authenticity of characters or the story. Like, he wasn’t grumpy; he was literally dying inside. He was slowly drowning and Nikolai became his lifeline. And speaking of Nikolai, he is the main reason why this was one of my most anticipated books of 2025. He is Jeremy's best friend and brother and I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. He was always portrayed as a dark and unhinged character, but unfortunately God of Fury ruined that for me. I can’t see him as a dark character ever again. Not after the whole “Kolya at age 5 situation” ("Kolya Jr. has been an adventurous whore since he got his first boner at the fresh age of five. It was such a marvelous discovery"). Yeah. No. Thank you, Miss Kent, but I don’t think that we need to know that much about a character (and their privat parts) AT THE AGE OF FIVE. WHAT THE HELL... (I really need my short-term memory to work overtime right now; I need Kolya Jr. wiped out of my mind FOREVER). That was weird as hell and totally unnecessary and didn’t do his character any favor. It was too much comedy and too much “clingy-sunshine-puppy” energy for my taste and overshadowed the DARK elements of his character, which was always THE representation of him. As I said, totally overdone. But to be fair- I think RK did that to balance out Bran’s dark story and energy and that makes total sense. It makes sense, but still- a little goes a long way sometimes. BUUUUT. Let’s get to the fun part. THE TENSION BETWEEN THEM. Holy mother. The spice and THE SMUT. You gotta be fcking kidding me. This was the nastiest smut I’ve ever read. This was the first book that made me LITERALLY BLUSH and stare at the wall with my mouth open. They were totally out of control and completely fell for each other with everything they had and I’m asolutely convinced that no power in the Rinaverse could've kept them apart or could come between them. Anyways. I’ll stop here because I have no self control and too much to say (this review is long enough already). Have a good one. See you next time. HEATHENS FOREVER.

Tropes: dark taboo romance, why choose, identical twin brothers, MFM, unhinged MMC, non-con, consensual non-con, stalking, captivity, motorcycle MMC, morally pitch black, dark past, trauma bonding, obsessive/possessive MMC, touch her and literally die, anti-hero, gore, blood play, knife play, primal play, somnophilia, Hitman---------- Well... I’m back with another dark taboo romance that no one asked for, and today we have twin brothers. Yes, I’m coming at you with identical twin brothers (I successfully manage to go deeper into the darkness with every book- don’t hesitate to follow me; It’s fun down here). And I’ve gladly taken on the noble task of providing you with smutty smut on a regular basis- binging smut is my favorite thing to do in my free time, so you are very welcome. Quick to the story: after crossing paths with Blake (poor girl doesn’t have a clue), who just moved to Seattle, Zayden becomes OBSESSED with her. He stalks her every move to protect his *angel* (very mindful) sleeps in her bed next to her without her, ehm knowing (very demure). Getting himself in trouble while trying to protect her (very cutesy), he gets arrested and asks his twin brother Dominic to take care of his *angel* (big mistake). Dominic himself gets obsessed with Blake, and they eventually both claim her when Zayden gets out of prison. Yeah so…If you think you know where this is going. You are right. This is exactly going, where you think it’s going, and where you think it’s going is the reason why I decided to read this book in the first place (god forbid a girl likes her boyfriend twice). Call me messed up, but I didn’t find this book dark and deep at all, rather scandalous, fun, and very bingeable. If you'd ask me for my humble opinion, I’d say the reason this book is also hot af is 1. ZAYDEN (I’m a dark romance girly; of course I choose the psychopathic twin) and 2. the whole “why choose” situation- had me giggling for hours. Anyways, that’s it from me. See ya.
