The writing style is absolutely beautiful. The novel deals with conceptual loss, i.e. what happens when things suddenly lose their meaning. I found it hard to wrap my head around the plot at times - after all, how can a person simply „forget“ the meaning and purpose of an item - but also rewarding and disturbing. Reminded me a little of the Handmaid’s Tale. The genre is probably best described as psychological horror. A tense, atmospheric read with almost lyrical prose.

Eigentlich ist die Story sehr komisch, weil es vielleicht für einen unvorstellbar ist, dass sowas möglich ist. Trotzdem schafft das Buch mit seiner detaillierten Beschreibungen, dass man sich so füllt, als wäre man Mitten drin dabei. Zudem strahlt das Buch eine schöne und beruhigende Atmosphäre aus. Ich empfehle das Buch im Winter zu lesen.
