At the beginning we get to know that Erin is carving her fresh married husband. Though they were married since at least six month. Then the story starts three month before their marriage. Erin and Marc are a good looking dream couple and they wanted to have children soon. So what changed the situation between them? Is it caused by Erins new film project about prison inmates? Or is it caused by Marcs sudden unemployment as investor. Well, I don't spoil the story if I say that it is caused by Something in the water. Enjoy the wonderfull written diving scenes in Bora Bora.

Erin und Mark sind auf Bora Bora, um ihre Flitterwochen zu verbringen und genießen ihre Zeit auf der paradiesischen Insel in vollen Zügen. Doch als sie bei einem Tauchausflug eine Tasche mit wertvollem Inhalt entdecken, ändert sich ihre Welt schlagartig. Sie beschließen, den Fund für sich zu behalten und alle Spuren zu verwischen, aber als sie zurück in London sind, beginnt ihr Geheimnis sie langsam aber sicher in einen reißenden Abgrund zu ziehen. Beunruhigende Vorfälle häufen sich und Erin beginnt zu zweifeln, wem sie noch trauen kann. Trotzdem versuchen die beiden, ihr Leben in den Griff zu bekommen und sich ihren Problemen zu stellen. Doch es wird immer schwieriger, ihre Lügen aufrechtzuerhalten und ihre Beziehung wird auf eine harte Probe gestellt. Werden sie es schaffen, ihre Geheimnisse zu bewahren und ihr Glück zu retten?
Insgesamt hat mich das Buch wirklich gut unterhalten. Die Geschichte war spannend und es hat Spaß gemacht, sie zu verfolgen. Besonders die Wendung am Schluss hat mir gut gefallen und hat die Geschichte auf eine Art und Weise abgerundet, die ich so nicht erwartet hatte. Allerdings muss ich sagen, dass es eher ein Roman mit Spannung war als ein klassischer Thriller. Es gab zwar viele spannende Momente und unvorhersehbare Ereignisse, aber es hat in mir keinen Nervenkitzel oder Gänsehaut ausgelöst, wie ich es von einem Thriller erwarten würde.
Trotzdem kann ich „Something in the water – im Sog des Verbrechens“ als gute Urlaubslektüre empfehlen. Es ist leicht zu lesen und hat genug Spannung um bei Laune gehalten zu werden. Die Charaktere waren interessant und die Beschreibungen der Orte und Szenen waren sehr bildhaft beschrieben. Daumen hoch
