I think I loved this even more than Uprooted! Definitely one of my all-time-favorites. This is just such a magical winter tale, I love re-reading this every time winter comes around..

viele Erzähler, spanender Plot, kreative Welt

Ich habe das Buch erst auf deutsch, und dann noch Mal auf Englisch gelesen. Es hat mir sehr gefallen, da das Buch aus der Perspektive von ca 7 verschiedenen Personen erzählt wir. Anfangs denkt man, es gehe nur um das leben einer einfachen jungen Frau, aber nach und nach wird der Plot viel grösser mit vielen verschiedenen Ansichten und Facetten. Während man liest, sieht man Verbindungen. Die Welt ist sehr kreativ und schlüssig aufgebaut. Es regt auch zum denken und fantasieren an. Ein kleiner Minuspunkt: auf dem Cover ist ein aufgedruckter Sticker, der etwas stört.

I can't tell you which of Naomi Novik's standalone fairytales I lile best. What I do like about this one is the dark and cold winter setting. Rumpelstiltskin has gotten a feminist makeover and a proper glow-up. He is now the cold hearted king who (more like a Mr. Darcy) is prejudiced against our main character. Who, line the wonderfuö and weird badass she is, takes fate into her own hands to show them all how it's done, while (accidentally) saving more people than just herself. It's a gem, it's puzzle pieces falling together and it's redemption in all the ways you wish for.
