Erebus The Story of a Ship

Construction of the Erebus was completed in 1826. and there was no sign that she would become a famous ship in the future. For a couple of years she patrols the Mediterranean, which is not a great deal at all. But in 1839 she is refitted for an Antarctic expedition by James Clark Ross, in 1840 she reaches Van Diemen´s Land, the Lieutenant-Governor here is Sir John Franklin. In 1845 Erebus and Terror set sail for Franklin´s Arctic expedition. Both ships, the entire crew, 129 men, vanish in the Arctic desert. The mystery remained for more than 160 years, then the Erebus was found in 2014. Terror was discovered in 2016.
