Belinda Bauers Thriller beginnt 1998 mit der tieftraurigen Situation, dass drei kleine Kinder, Jack ist mit 10 Jahren der Älteste, im heißen Auto am Rande einer Autobahn auf ihre Mutter warten, die die Pannenhilfe holen wollte. Sie wird jedoch nie wieder kommen. Das Leben der drei Kinder ist zerstört.
Drei Jahre später soll der strafversetzte Polizist Marvel eine Serie von Einbrüchen klären, anstatt sich mit Morden zu beschäftigen. Gleichzeitig wird eine junge schwangere Frau von einem Einbrecher, der nichts geklaut hat, mit merkwürdigen Botschaften tyrannisiert.
Wie das alles zusammenhängt, können Sie in den wunderbaren tragisch traurigen, wie auch skurrilen Thriller lesen. Besonders lesenswert fand ich die dilettantischen Aktionen der Polizisten, die sich von einen Jungen vorführen lassen, der nur eines will: Den Mörder seiner Mutter finden und stellen.
