A New York Times Bestseller
An Amelia Bloomer Project Award Selection
A New York Public Library Best Book for Teens

Girl, Interrupted meets Speak. Refinery29

A dark yet powerful read. Paste Magazine

One of the most affecting novels we have read. Goop

Breathtaking and beautifully written. Bustle

Intimate and gritty. The Irish Times

"A haunting, beautiful, and necessary book that will stay with you long after you've read the last page." Nicola Yoon, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Everything, Everything

"Equal parts keen-eyed empathy, stark candor, and terrible beauty. This book is why we read stories: to experience what it's like to survive the unsurvivable; to find light in the darkest night."-Jeff Zentner, author of The Serpent King

"Raw, visceral, and starkly beautiful, with writing that is at times transcendent in its brilliance. . . . An unforgettable story of trauma and resilience."--Kerry Kletter, author of The First Time She Drowned

"A breathtakingly written book about pain and hard-won healing . . . I want every girl to read Girl In Pieces."-Kara Thomas, author of The Darkest Corners and The Cheerleaders

A Girl, Interrupted for a new generation .The story of the mad girl is ultimately a story about being a girl in a mad world, how it breaks us into pieces and how we glue ourselves back together." Melissa Febos, author of Whip Smart and Abandon Me

Dark, frank, and tender, Girl in Pieces keeps the reader electrified for its entire journey. You re so uncertain if Charlie will heal, so fully immersed in hoping she does. Michelle Wildgen, author of Bread and Butter and You re Not You

"Girl in Pieces has the breath of life; every character in it is fully alive. Charlie Davis' complexities are drawn with great understanding and subtlety."-Charles Baxter, author of National Book Award finalist The Feast of Love

"Charlie Davis has been damaged and abused after several years of living on the streets, but she is fiercely resilient.  Though it will appeal to readers of Ellen Foster, Speak, and Girl, Interrupted, Girl in Pieces is an entirely original work, compulsively readable and deeply human."-Julie Schumacher, author the New York Times bestseller Dear Committee Members

"In Glasgow s riveting debut novel, readers are pulled close to Charlie s raw, authentic emotions as she strains to make a jagged path through her new life. Love and trust prove difficult, and Charlie s judgment is not well honed, but her will to survive is glorious." Booklist, Starred review

"[Readers] will find themselves driven to see Charlie s story through. They will better understand a world that often makes no sense to outsiders. Glasgow s debut novel is a dark read, but the engaging writing will win an audience for [Glasgow]."-VOYA, Starred review

"Heartbreaking and thick with emotion,...[Girl in Pieces is] for avid fans of Jennifer Niven s All the Bright Places or Susanna Kaysen s Girl Interrupted."-SLJ

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

A realistic, important work about mental health

It will break a part of you, and heal another part of you. I loved to watch the story unfold, even if „not much“ was going on, because this is how it is when you are struggling with everyday life. I think people giving negative reviews simply might not be able to relate, well, better for them if they never went through hard times. Great and powerful main character, I personally liked the style of writing as well and would definitely recommend it.

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

One of the best books, I read.

This book is beautiful. It's about a girl, who lost many of her friends. A sad, but also emotional making story. I love the feeling when reading it. I love the pain in the book which takes you right into the story.

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

    beautiful

this book is so heartbreaking yet so beautiful. it was an emotional rollercoaster. i’ve never thought that i had to take breaks reading a book. please check the TW’s beforehand. it’s scary how relatable charlies and the other girls behaviours are but beautiful in it’s own way. this is my favourite book forever because i can see myself so clearly in charlie. it keeps me going, because everything ends eventually, either in a good way or in a bad way. charlie is still in pieces, yes but she’s slowly finding all of her scattered pieces. definitely recommend !!

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

    angelic and sad

    You´ll be in pieces too

Trigger Warning: Selfharm, Suicide, Drug Abuse, Sexual Abuse “People should know about us. Girls who write their pain on their bodies.” „Girl in Pieces“ is a heart wrenching story about survival, physically as well as mentally. When 17 year old Charlie is released from the psychiatric hospital she tries to get her life back on track. The author tackles serious issues like selfharm in a sensitive yet relatable way and shows a deep understanding of the battles people with mental illness face everyday. This is the book that made me fall in love with Kathleen Glasgows writing.

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

A very good book about a bad (difficult) topic

Authentic. Believable. Realistic. Important. Fast-paced. This book surprised me. To be fair- I wasn’t expecting much. Or anything, really. For my liking it was too hyped on social media and usually all that does to me is take away all motivation to consume said hyped thing. But I wanted to know if it really is something worth reading. So I gave it a chance. And I liked it. Yes I thought the beginning was a bit plump and maybe a bit too fast (yes that is possible) and on the nose but hey- that way everyone knows what the book is about on the first page and we’re off to continue the story. (I haven’t read any blurbs prior so I started without any clue whatsoever.) The chapters/sections of the book are incredibly short and the language was very easy to read. Especially easy to read VERY FAST which I liked. The story about a very troubled young woman who had many hardships in her life comes off really authentic (which makes sense since it’s based on the author’s own experiences as far as I know) and down to earth. The characters feel like real people and they act and talk like real people would. I felt like I learned things. At least understand some things better. It had very bone chilling passages and moments of great suspense. The romantic relationship is somewhat at the center of the plot but not what the plot is ABOUT. It’s very much a coming-of-age story. A story about drugs, addiction, self-harm, alcohol abuse, homelessness, and various other “difficult” topics and all are handled and portrayed INCREDIBLY WELL. Now I kind of get the hype. Or at least I understand why many read this book. I also agree that amongst the various books about said topics this is the one I would recommend most. Do with that what you will. (The audio book is also excellent - before writing the review I gave it a listen and Julia Whelan reads and performs it masterfully! )

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

    Girl in Pieces

I loved the beginning and ending but to be honest in the middle it's quite boring. Some parts were pretty exciting again but the excitement didn't last long. The book does have some deep meanings and it gives your feelings words, but it just isn't the right one for me.
