Ich frage mich ernsthaft, wie die Autorin den Überblick über all diese verzwickten Wege der Charaktere behält. Es ist einfach nur Wahnsinn und ich liebe es! Mein Kopf: weil ich einfach auch nicht mehr Wahrheit von Lüge und andersrum trennen konnte. Die Protagonistin hat mich immer mal wieder genervt, aber sie hat ne gute Entwicklung erlebt und ich freue mich, mehr über sie und die anderen zu lesen. Ich MUSS einfach! Julian hat mein Herz ❤️

Honestly, this book was on my to be read list for a pretty long time and I couldn‘t motivate myself to read it. After I read Once upon a broken heart, which is the first book of a side series and is also set in the world of Caraval, I was hooked on this story. I wanted to know more about this world of promises, intrigues, games and magic. The first book did not disappoint. A world building so dangerous as beautiful, made it really hard to put the book away. I thought the main character Scarlett was boring at first, but I fell in love with her brave heart and devotion for her sister with every page I read. Legend keeps his promise of a legendary adventure and leads you to loose touch with reality.

Dive into the magical universe created by Stephanie Garber. »Caraval« is the first book of this trilogy. For the plot we follow Scarlett Dragna, the older one of two sisters who has been writing letters to the grand Caraval master Legend, a powerful magician who used to host annual games of illusions and magic. Her wish: for Legend and his performers to travel to Trisda, the home island of Scarlett and Donatella, so they can experience Caraval for Tella's birthday. When Scarlett is supposed to get married, she changes her mind and distinctly asks that he shall not invite them this year, as it would be more than incovenient with her wedding her wedding being around the corner. It is then that two of the sought-after tickets are sent to her. Together with her sister and the wity sailor Julian, Scarlett (if involuntarily) travels to Isla de los Sueños to take part in Caraval. Will she be able to look through the illusions of the game and trust her sanity and heart? For me this book series was a huge highlight of 2023 and I can highly recommend it to anyone who adores Urban Fantasy, mixed with magical elements and a bit of romance! Stephanie Garber has a beautiful, descriptive writing style which makes you dive right into the worlds she creates. The Caraval trilogy is the prequel to Once Upon a Broken Heart. I highly recommend reading it and the novella before.
