Once again we hit a world, where magic is real, but hidden, where ghosts exist, where an outsider stumbles into a world full of magic creatures. So far, so used. BUT! Haha! But Ben Aaronovitch accomplishes, where so many of the other urban fantasy authors fail, namely to mix british humor, and a good british crime novel (the main focus seems to be always on good, old police work) with nicely written, realistic characters. None of the pathetic "hear, hear" and "alas" BS you get on other urban fantasy novels, which is refreshing and good. I´ll definitely keep an eye out for sequels. Oh, wait, there is already a sequel and I´m already reading it. Aaah. Good stuff!

Lovely urban fantasy book with some solid characters. Loved the British humour in this as well. Sometimes the descriptions of where everything was happening within London was a bit much for someone who doesn’t know the city all that well but other than that I enjoyed it a lot. I’m looking forward to reading the next one.
