honestly slaps just as hard as the series very well written in a way that i think both pleases those who know chess and doesn’t alienate those who are unfamiliar with it, a total page-turner, needed a good palate cleanser after all the depressive books i've been reading

This was soo good, I couldn't put this book down! The theme, chess, really intrigued me and the way the author included serious topics, like addiction and illness, is really great. I love the writing style and the story of a young girl becoming a champion, it's just perfect!

The Queens gambit follows the story of Beth Harmon, orphaned at the age of 8. She starts learning the game of chess at the orphanage, before beeing adopted in her teens. A book I just couldn’t put down! I was really invested in the whole story and the characters, though i I don’t play chess myself.
