This revolutionary work of science fiction is one of my all-time favorites! Le Guin imagined a society on a foreign planet where no gender exists - at least not in the way we tend to think of it. While a novelty in its year of publication, the topic is still just as relevant today as ist has ever been. The way in which this world is thought out and the way the characters slowly form a connection, overcoming their differences and prejudices, still makes me think about this story frequently. Challenging our world view and the way we perceive others is exactly what I think the genre of science fiction is so great at!
