Remmie McNeal went to sleep at thirteen and woke up three hundred years later to find everything wrong. The colony AI has gone dark. The adults - all six thousand of them - are still frozen in their reconstruction creches. Only children woke up, and two hundred of them are now Remmie's problem. Then a shapeshifting creature crawls out of the livestock vat and decides he's its human. He names it Wobblegong. With his small crew of kids improvising their way through running a colony they were never meant to run, Remmie realizes the problem goes deeper than a broken AI. The planet itself is changing. To fix it, Remmie will need to cross hundreds of kilometers of alien desert, navigate a rival colony's agenda, survive insects the size of buildings, and find the source of a signal that leads somewhere nobody expected. Wobble will be right beside him the whole way. A Wobblegong and His Boy is a science fiction adventure for boys 8 to 18, written in the tradition of Heinlein's classic juveniles and Andre Norton's colony novels - fast-paced, idea-driven, and built to hook the reader who thinks he doesn't like books.
