T. De Witt Talmage as I Knew Him is an intimate portrait of the celebrated American preacher and orator, Reverend T. De Witt Talmage, as remembered by his wife, Eleanor McCutcheon Talmage. Through personal anecdotes, letters, and reflections, Eleanor provides a warm, detailed account of Talmage's life, ministry, and the profound influence he wielded as a preacher in the 19th century. Talmage, known for his dynamic speaking style and popular sermons, addressed social issues of his time with zeal, drawing large audiences both in person and through his widely circulated writings. The biography captures Talmage's character and dedication to his faith, as well as the unique bond he shared with his family. Eleanor presents a deeply personal perspective on his spiritual journey, his motivations, and his compassion for his congregation. Her reflections highlight his moments of both public triumph and private struggle, painting a portrait of a man who, despite his fame, remained committed to his principles and the well-being of others.
