Yen-Wei Chen received his B.E. degree in 1985 from Kobe University, Kobe, Japan. He received his M.E. degree in 1987 and his D.E. degree in 1990, both from Osaka University, Osaka, Japan. He is currently a tenured professor at the College of Information Science and Engineering, Ritsumeikan University in Japan. He has held various positions, including Vice Dean of the College of Information Science and Engineering, Director of the Department of Media Technnology, Deputy Director of the International Division at Ritsumeikan University, and Director of the Center of Advanced ICT for Medicine and Healthcare. He also serves as a visiting professor at Zhejiang University's College of Computer Science and Pennsylvania State University in the United States. His main research focuses on computer vision, intelligent computing, and medical image analysis.  He has organized and chaired numerous international academic conferences and has been invited to give keynote speeches at international conferences. He serves as an associate editor, and editorial board member for multiple international academic journals. He is a committee member of the IEEE CTSoc MDA (Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and AI) Technical Stream Committee and a representative of the Japan Society of Medical Imaging and Technology. He has supervised or co-supervised nearly 40 doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers.

Prof Kwok received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Hong Kong and his Ph.D. degree in computer science from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He then joined the Department of Computer Science, Hong Kong Baptist University as an Assistant Professor. He returned to the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and is now a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. He is serving / served as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, Neural Networks, Neurocomputing, Artificial Intelligence Journal, International Journal of Data Science and Analytics, and on the Editorial Board of Machine Learning. He is also serving as Senior Area Chairs of major machine learning / AI conferences including NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, IJCAI, and as Area Chairs of conferences including AAAI and ECML. He is on the IJCAI Board of Trustees. He is recognized as the Most Influential Scholar Award Honorable Mention for "outstanding and vibrant contributions to the field of AAAI/IJCAI between 2009 and 2019".
