Through nine interconnected chapters, we have attempted to delve into the depths of this important therapeutic movement, which, along with psychoanalysis, represents one of the most significant theoretical, therapeutic, and philosophical frameworks addressing humanity and its issues. While perspectives and approaches may differ, the ultimate goal is the same: to alleviate the burdens and pressures of life's relentless pace, which leads many to succumb to anxiety, depression, mental and behavioral disorders, and even psychosomatic conditions.
Until recently, a debate raged between proponents of psychoanalysis and behaviorism. However, in our view, this sophistical debate leads nowhere. Advocates of each approach should focus on expanding the scope of their treatment and addressing human issues. Wasting time and effort defending and proving the validity of their theories, sometimes to the point of distorting the truth, benefits neither science nor humanity. It is worth noting that this therapeutic trend, while seemingly extreme, sought to reach true objectivity as it appears in nature and chemistry, to the point that its beginnings dealt with "animals" and generalized the results obtained from them to humans. This was the subject of ridicule from those of other trends, and their neglect of the aspects that distinguish humans as humans from the animal world as animals. However, recently very important modifications have taken place, especially the cognitive-behavioral trend, which focused on the clear relationship between thoughts, emotions, and behavior, and that "refuting" irrational thoughts leads to changing emotions and feelings, and thus all of this is reflected in behavior.
