The Nubians-as the Greek historian Drussillus stated-were among the earliest human populations on Earth. For this reason, the Nubian language is considered one of the oldest languages ¿¿spoken by humankind. This antiquity has made tracing its history from its beginnings difficult, as it has undergone many changes to reach its current form. Egyptologists, archaeologists, and researchers have not yet determined the origin of the Nubian language. Some have suggested it is a Hamitic language, others that it predates Hamitic, and still others have concluded that its origins are unknown.

The Aswan High Dam is a water storage project that ensures complete control over the Nile's water and its use for irrigation and electricity generation, a cornerstone of industry. The dam is a massive granite embankment, rising 111 meters above the riverbed and measuring 1,000 meters wide at its base. On the right bank lies the river diversion canal, which includes six water tunnels equipped with iron gates. There are also additional gates at the front and rear for emergency use. The construction of the dam, in addition to the diversion canal, included the creation of a spillway for the dam's water to be discharged if its level rose above the maximum level designated for storage.
