This debate has intensified due to digital platforms. While fake news is not a new phenomenon, it has become more complex in the digital age, making its detection more challenging than ever.
Furthermore, there is increasing pressure on news organizations to publish incomplete or unverified stories, making the fight against fake content a critical professional challenge. It is difficult to verify false claims that spread widely across the world via social media. This was clearly demonstrated in January 2023, for example, when websites circulated a story about a patient from the Mina al-Qamh Center in Sharqia Governorate who claimed that a lion had eaten two young children. The story spread widely before its falsity was revealed. These websites then published reports and videos refuting the story, sparking a wave of controversy among journalists and media professionals. Such incidents underscore the need for advanced technologies capable of detecting misinformation, without compromising professional and ethical standards in news reporting.
