'A brave and deeply honest testament to strength, courage and survival. Andrew is a kind-hearted, emotionally intelligent man whose strength and courage I deeply admire. It takes real bravery to be so open about the difficult things he has endured and overcome.'
Silky, Death of Guitar Pop
Travelling to Edinburgh to give evidence at the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry, Andrew is forced to face the reality of what happened to him at Harmeny School, a place that was meant to protect vulnerable children but instead became a source of fear, abuse, and lasting trauma.
Through honest and unflinching reflection, he revisits the experiences that shaped him, the loss of his family, the system that failed him, and the emotional impact that still remains.
This is not just a story about the past, but about what it means to live with it, to speak out, and to keep going in spite of it.
Alongside the pain, Andrew also shares the strength he has found in survival, in music, in support, and in the love of his daughters.
FEAR OF HARMENY is a raw and courageous memoir about truth, resilience, and the lifelong journey of coming to terms with what should never have happened.
