Portrait

Prof. Dr. Michael Schrader is Professor of Cell Biology & Cytopathology in the Dept. of Biosciences at the University of Exeter, UK. Using mammalian peroxisomes as model organelles, Prof. Schrader and his team aim to unravel the molecular machinery and signalling pathways that mediate and regulate the formation, dynamics, abundance and interplay of these medically relevant cellular compartments. Prof. Schrader is Editor-in-Chief (Greater Europe) for the Springer Journal "Histochemistry & Cell Biology" and has served as editor for several Springer books (DOI 10.1007/978-1-4939-6937-1; DOI 10.1007/978-981-13-2233-4;  DOI 10.1007/978-1-0716-3048-8) and/or contributed to those (e.g. DOI 10.1007/978-3-7091-1788-0; DOI 10.1007/978-1-62703-056-4; DOI 10.1007/978-94-007-6889-5) based on his long-standing expertise in peroxisome/organelle biology.

Dr. Markus Islinger is group leader in the Dept. of Neuroanatomy of the Medical Faculty Mannheim, Heidelberg University. His research interests in peroxisome biology focus on the characterization of peroxisomal functions and dynamics in neurons and glial cells to increase our understanding of their contribution to development and metabolic homeostasis of the brain as well as the retina in human health and disease. M. Islinger contributed to several Springer books based on his longstanding expertise in peroxisome biology and organellar proteomics (e.g. DOI 10.1007/978-1-59745-028-7; DOI 10.1007/978-1-61779-959-4; DOI 10.1007/978-1-61779-111-6; DOI 10.1007/978-1-62703-056-4; DOI: 10.1007/978-1-4939-6937-1; DOI: 10.1007/978-981-13-2233-4).
